My 1st spotted cattleya!!!
1 Attachment(s)
So pumped to have bloomed my 1st spotted cattleya (of 3 that I own). Big thanks to all in here that have helped me throughout the years with lots of knowledge, and big thanks to Fred (selling such a beautiful orchid) and Ray (Inocucor and Kelpmax are staples in my orchids diets).
The blooms are about 3 inches across, mildy sweet scent in the evening. Nice compact plant, no more than 10 inches from the bottom of the container, to the top of the flower. The 2 newest pseudobulbs have nice spotting on the leaves as well. Has been outside, exposed to a ton of sunlight, and a steady breeze once danger of frost passed this last spring (same last year). Just brought indoors as threat of frost is back. |

Beautiful! And as a bonus for supplying the tag, I looked it up... Genus name changes complicated it slightly, but the cross has been named (Fred Clarke liked it too!):
Potinara (Rhyncholaeliocattleya) Naomi's Delight |
I have one similar to yours but is not the same.
https://i.postimg.cc/PrsD0qtw/20181222-115152.jpg If it's like mine, it has two blooming seasons as well as two growing seasons: late summer and spring. If so, be prepared to have a huge plant in minimal time.:) Is it scented? Mine smells something that remembers chocolat. |
Gorgeous flowers!! I'm a sucker for spotted Catts, they're my favorites. And bonus that it's a nice compact plant (at least for now).
Thanks Roberta for looking up the name, maybe I'll be able to track one down in Europe since a couple vendors do import from SVO. |
They look stunning.
