C. Caudabec Candy

There are a bunch of different sorts for this hybrid - some white with pink spots..... some pink with darker pink spots. White with pink spots looks more like 'candy'. Some are white with purplish spots. Various intensity/concentrations of spots.
Colour changes occur at various stages of bloom. Abrupt deepening of colour will be seen in the last stage of bloom - just prior to flower-drop. http://www.orchidboard.com/community...1&d=1566306191 Google Drive Link: C. Caudabec Candy |
I really like all of the speckling/spotting on these. Are the blooms fragrant?

Definitely with you on liking the spotting/speckling and colouring etc of the various outcomes of the cross. I'm going to try look for a white with spots that look like this one at this site here : click here. That one looks like the 'edible' type hahaha. Image linked below too: http://hughescattleyas.com/wp-conten...ebec-Candy.jpg Above : image from hughescattleyas.com In the link at the above site, it does say "C.-Caudebec-Candy.jpg" --- but it really should be CaudAbec Candy. Interestingly - the company/person that registered the grex Caudabec Candy ------ registered it as CaudAbec Candy. This is not the same spelling as CaudEbec, which is linked to some company that is (or was) named the CaudEbec Group. |
Interesting story behind the name of this one. I might look for one of these. I think that I like the pink variety much better than the white one--and glad that you confirmed it's fragrant. Thank you.

Yep, I'd definitely be willing to munch on one of those blooms! Especially a fragrant one.

These flowers are from the same plant as in the opening post - except these flowers are the next batch.
This batch has more spotting - possibly due to plenty of direct sun. I purchased this plant from South East Queensland, where it is usually cooler than my region (North East Queensland). The petals and sepals are still changing colour - originally green. The pink/purple colour is starting to build up 2 days after first opening. http://www.orchidboard.com/community...1&d=1572785533 http://www.orchidboard.com/community...1&d=1572816520 Above: tepals still changing colour. http://www.orchidboard.com/community...1&d=1572901905 Above: Photo with a flash used. The upside-down flower (facing upwards) is the biggest one, and was the first one to open. http://www.orchidboard.com/community...1&d=1572902135 http://www.orchidboard.com/community...1&d=1572902400 |

Toward the end of the bloom period - the reddish pink colours are back again. Some nice colour differences.
