Phalaenopsis with abnormal looking leaves

I bought some orchids at the local supermarket which looked beautiful when I bought them of course but now some have abnormal, very ugly looking leaves. Could it be cultural, or virus, or? Thank you!

I’d quarantine them just in case. I do see a lot of grocery store orchids, however, with sun and cold damage depending on the season. I’m not sure when it happens, but they look fine when they initially arrive at the store but the damage starts to manifest in a few days as the tissues degrade.

If it’s sun or cold damage the brown areas should rapidly dry up and not spread beyond the original lesions. If the brown areas stay moist and spread, then you’re probably dealing with a fungal or bacterial infection.

Welcome to the Orchid Board. I agree with aliceinwl that the wise thing to do at this point would be to keep these plants separated from any others you may have. It would be really helpful to know how long you have had these plants and when in that time frame they started showing these symptoms. Have they been repotted since you got them? Also, what are your general growing conditions, i.e., indoors, outdoors (if outdoors, what is your climate?), watering schedule, how much light do they get, are you fertilizing, etc. There are many here who would like to help, but they will need more of the "big picture." :)

I am trying to tell you the "big" picture but I keep getting this message even though it has no URLs in it or any forbidden words I can find! I think I will just toss them. "Post denied. New posts are limited by number of URLs it may contain and checked if it doesn't contain forbidden words."

I have a couple of orchids that look an awful lot like the one in pic #2. I tried Neem oil, but that did not seem to help. Today I sprayed them with Daconil, 32 oz. premix fungicide that I bought at Home Depot. I'm going to keep my eye on them to see if there is any improvement.

Thanks, hope to hear what happens.
