Grapevine ball

This is a grapevine ball that is supported by a sturdy metal cage. Would like to mount an orchid on it but it probably needs more substrate than the thin grapevine. Any ideas? Epi Mat?

Thanks,

:hmm That's bigger than I thought it would be! :yikes:

Perhaps coconut fiber would work for this project? :scratchhead:

it looks like my spool of fishing line when im done trying to mount something :_(

I think a couple stratigically placed orchids would look awesome in bloom on there. Maybe a couple of bulbos that go willy nilly, rambling all over? :scratchhead:

Most of the holes are about 5/8" wide. What size are the epi chunks?

Wow I want one of those!

As Susanne mention, IT IS BIG!

But I would like to fill it with Epiweb and let some Bulbophyllum ramble on it!
Or just let two or three Cattleya walkeriana spread all over it (without Epiweb)?

Why use the chunks of Epiweb, when you could cut a Epiweb slab in small bands and put them in and twirl them to a ball!

Given the location I was thinking Brassovola Novosa. Those critters really like to wander.

I've never used or have seen Epi up close and personal. From the responses it sounds like it's flexible. I'm going to Ray's site and take another look and consider my options. It might take me a while to find the Brassovola or any other suitable selections. No orchid shows in this area till May 3rd. I have a Brass. now but he's pretty stuck on his enviroment.
