Cats in boxes

One of the great constants of life. You set a box down and in a cat goes. Every. Single. Time.

Feel free to add your own pics of your feline weirdos! I would love to see them :cat:

(no longer with me) Jack-in-the-box :)

Current kitty Mahina hasn't been very interested in boxes, which seems odd, as she loves the pop-up kitty cubes :dunno:

estación seca 04-17-2018 11:18 PM

What if you painted the cardboard cat carrier for visiting the vet so it looked like a regular brown box?

Here's my (now deceased) Jack in the box.

Mountaineer370 04-18-2018 07:36 AM

Fun topic! Beautiful cats, everyone!

camille1585 04-18-2018 07:44 AM

Funnily enough my mother's 2 cats are scared to death of boxes! They eye them warily then then go find a pile of clean laundry to sleep on.

DeaC 04-18-2018 10:53 AM

Wonderful fotos folks. This is the first time in my 60+ yrs I've been petless, having recently had to let go of my senior cat. But such fun to admire all of yours. They're beautiful and good for the soul.

Glad we could help! Here's a picture of Nathan outside the box.

And typically, the smaller the box, the more desirable it seems to be...

rbarata 04-18-2018 02:40 PM

I don't have any boxes.

That's so they can kick the sides out!

Paul 04-18-2018 04:45 PM

Folks never had a cat that liked to kick the sides out. One cat in particular loved to squeeze herself into small shoeboxes. She looked like a loaf of bread in a bread pan

Leafmite 04-18-2018 06:13 PM

Cute pictures!

But eventually the sides give out.

I take private Dutch lessons directly at the teacher's home, and her cat, named Bear, loves small boxes. To the point that she permanently keeps a shoe box on the windowsill, and every week I find Bear crammed in that tiny box. The box hasn't exploded yet! Sometimes I think that cats are solids which can also behave like liquids, she pretty much folds herself into a box shape and then 'melts' to fit the box exactly...

Optimist 04-19-2018 08:52 AM

We have 2 cats, neither one seems interested in boxes, however, one will sleep in a 10-gallon fish tank (without water of course!)

No-Pro-mwa 04-30-2018 01:11 PM

So funny. I don't have any cats.

SaraJean 05-03-2018 12:48 PM

Oh these pictures are cute!

Funny.. I tried using the regular cat carrier, which they love to sleep in but act like I am trying to skin them alive if i close the door on it... so I gave up and got a cardboard $10 pet carrier to use for the vet and they love it. Cats are strange

Ruiza5 03-20-2019 12:42 PM

I have got a cat and he loves boxes. It doesn't matter that the box is too small..Smaller = better! Unfortunately, I haven't got any photos to post here but my cat always makes my laugh while laying in the box!

We have 2 black cats, Hunter and Dexter, whose names have evolved into Tubby Hunter and Dexter Doodle.
Tubby is a lap cat whose greatest problem is that as he gets fatter, our laps get smaller.
Doodle, on the other hand, is the cat who will die by misadventure, curiosity killed the cat at work.

So, I had been looking for some old bills and receipts.
I had laid my "to be filed" out box on the floor.
As soon as Doodle saw it it was his.
http://www.orchidboard.com/community...1&d=1561188486

Doodle thought he was in the in-box.
Actually he was in the out-box.

Your Doodle sounds like my Meatloaf (my black kitty). She is as mischievous and curious as the come and cracks me up. It’s almost like she has never outgrown the kitten stage. Darla is much more quiet, dignified, and elegant, a real lady, and looks at poor Meatloaf like she done lost her damn mind on a daily basis

A pic of the both of them on top of a box that I had but on my sofa for 0.2 seconds before they commandeered it. And also Darla in an Andy’s Orchids shipping box that she found to be very comfortable.

DeaC 08-03-2019 01:25 PM

 Orchids arriving in boxes are always a happy event but cats know these can be recycled along with the pnuts. This put a big smile on my face...TY! My Lola doesn't do much of anything with a box except be nosy and decides not to waste her time. Off to the window...! BTW,that first foto looks like the yin/yang symbol? Cute.

This may not qualify as a box, but... here is my lil weirdo Dante sitting in a cake tin!

Dollythehun 09-27-2019 01:40 PM

Close enough and quite pleased with himself.

I was afraid this was going to be some modern Schrodinger discussion....

So glad it was this.
I e had many many cats in my life and none at the moment. Just three dogs... while I don’t miss the litter, I do miss the silliness and mega snuggles

Catnip... ‘nuff said

This. They are such hilarious and bizarre little creatures but, oh Lordy, when one curls up on you with it’s motor running you’re stuck. I don’t care what I was supposed to be doing. I have a purring cat on my lap or shoulder and I ain’t moving for anything. It took a while for my husband to get used to them and their antics but now he refers to them as “the Ladies” and I recently came home to both cats wearing faux pearl cat necklaces that he thought they needed...

And yes, the cat nip. I always keep some on hand
