Clowesetum Dragon's Treasure 'Cardrona'

Big plant, big flowers!! First pic is the leafed out version and following pics show flowers, which are also bigger than I thought they'd be. Smells wonderful!

I think I told you it's a beast! And, it's obviously very happy in Texas.

Dragon's is my favorite of all my Ctsm! Honestly, if I could only keep one in this group...Dragon's is the one that would stay.

Steve! That plant would barely fit in the bed of my Ridgeline! Where the heck do you all keep these?

orchidsarefun 01-15-2018 08:57 AM

Very nice colour. Plant is massive!

My dream catasetum! Bubblegum pink with a frilly lip. That is a beautiful plant with some stellar blooms:)

That's a beautiful beast! Could you describe the fragrance?

I grow outside during the summer (March-November) and inside during winter. I'll post pics below.

It really is! I'm chopping it up this spring.

Sure! It gets a lot of the Clowesia fragrance. I find its a mix of pine and anise. Similar to Cattleya walkeriana.

Great color!

Subrosa 01-16-2018 08:29 AM

Just curious why you have the metal mesh around the set up. Cats?

Cat, deer, squirrels, skunks, possum, and armadillos all inhabit my backyard. We put up a fence recently so the deer won't be a problem next summer.

Turns out the mesh also keeps out my 3 year old and 10 month old now that the plants are inside!:lol:

No-Pro-mwa 01-16-2018 07:45 PM

Wow, beautiful. This get big.

Orchidgirl83 01-21-2018 02:06 PM

Wow, that is huge!! I just saw one of these at the local orchid show yesterday, but it was no where near this impressive.

It's time... but delaying the water a little longer than you need to is better than starting too soon. It's hungry too... Because they grow so fast, they like fertilizer...
