Euchile (Encyclia) mariae in bloom

The first spike is in bloom. There are 3 more spikes with buds of varying size. So I should be able to enjoy this for an extended period of time. I got this in spring of 2015 and it has grown well and gave me 4 spikes last year at the same time also. It seems to be happy getting similar care to the rest of my Catts although it is potted in large perlite. That's because it was in something similar when I got it. I was afraid to change how it was growing.

Thanks. I can't remember from last year and haven't detected much fragrance this year, a bit this morning. But I am keeping it in a fairly shaded part of the house not near windows just because I have other stuff in the living room near the windows. I think it is scented in the earlier part of the day in good light. Is yours scented, and if so what part of the day?

Thanks. I usually grow the Cattleya types in medium bark. But this came potted in what seemed like mostly perlite. So when it needed a larger pot last year, I used large perlite. It seems happy with that. If I split it, I may put part of it in medium bark or a mix of medium bark and perlite. I would be more comfortable growing it in bark although it has thrived as is.
