Hello everyone.
Thanks for having me. I am excited to join such an informative site with such knowledgeable people. I am an avid gardener, but sort of new to Orchids (that aren't Phalenopsis) I had a nice collection before a fire (Weed Ca) that destroyed over 100 homes. I have moved since then and have started a new collection with more species. I have also just recently joined the American Orchid Society and my local (Humboldt County) society. In fact my first meeting is this Thursday. I have branched out to Oncidium, Odontoglosum, Cymbediums and Paphiopedilums. We have a few amazing local growers here. The area is pretty mild here and as I am very close to the ocean humidity isn't much of an issue. I'll be posting pictures of my original and new babies. As soon as I figure out how!!!
I just wanted to say thank you for having me. I can't wait to learn more. I know I already have lots of questions.

So sorry about the fire. I visited Weed decades ago. I saw photos of the aftermath; it was heartbreaking.

Humboldt County is magnificently beautiful. You will have a great time growing all those cool orchids many of us just dream about. We look forward to seeing your plants!

Thank you for the welcome. I'm still figuring out how to reply and post. I'm sure I'll figure it out soon enough. Yes the Carlyle is wild. They grow like crazy along the Kalamath river. But I did figure out how to get a few going indoors. It's tricky but manageable. I took two out of the ground, from a field of about 300. They grow along Seiad creek. It's a small mountain town just 30 miles southwest of the Oregon border.

Thank you. I'm in Eureka now. The humidity is a blessing. No more humidifiers. I just added a Beallara to my collection. It's a Beallara Marfitch "Howard's dream"
I'll be posting pictures tomorrow.
