Congrats and good luck!

WhiteRabbit 11-04-2015 07:42 PM

Awesome! :wtg:

turock 11-04-2015 09:30 PM

"Nubbins" is perhaps the cutest word in the English language, right up there with "piglet" and "mitten".

Ahem... I'm excited for you! Can't wait to see what it looks like!

My Green Pets 11-04-2015 09:45 PM

Peeling back the dried leaf tissue seems to have awakened them--one has swollen noticeably since yesterday!

ThePinkCucumber 11-05-2015 01:01 AM

Can't wait for bloom pictures! :)

My Green Pets 11-05-2015 04:20 PM

Aww man today I found a little slug on one of the nubbins! >:( I can't tell if it did any big damage or not but it must've gotten at least a few mouthfuls. Rage!

ThePinkCucumber 11-05-2015 11:45 PM

Ah no, that's terrible! Hope you'll get them all!

My Green Pets 11-06-2015 11:21 PM

It looks like the slug ate the first outer layers of the developing spike. I guess we'll see if it turns out to be anything. Damn little boogers!

Luckily a smaller bulb is also showing a couple of smaller nubbins so all is not lost...unless there are more slugs!

Chances are it'll produce another spike. When these guys are healthy (and yours is!) they really want to bloom.

I lost a spike to a giant slug that had been hiding in the pot (GRRRR!) last year and it popped a new spike shortly after the mauling.

My Green Pets 11-07-2015 10:20 AM

katrina thank you for the ray of light!

Yazz 02-09-2016 07:01 PM

More freckles this year. Well done!

turock 02-10-2016 12:02 AM

Wooow! Worth the wait!

jcec1 02-10-2016 04:11 AM

That looks great, does it have a scent?

Yes, it is menthol scented.

My Green Pets 02-10-2016 08:49 AM

More pics because a year is a long time to wait.

Color really thrown off by the bright light.

Great blooms. I don't have any of this genus and makes me want to consider getting one!

My Green Pets 02-10-2016 10:13 AM

Silken, it is really fun to see them transform from leafy giants in the summer to pushing blooms out of those cone-shaped bulbs in winter. They are interesting plants even without the flowers.

No-Pro-mwa 02-12-2016 11:03 AM

I know, me too. I hate getting interested in anew kind of orchid. But I do love how these hang down with all flowers.

Cambria you send that stinking slug to me, we'll see how tough he thinks he is. We'll just see if he can live out here in this dry area.

isurus79 02-12-2016 12:39 PM

I really like the color on this one! And the number of flowers per spike is pretty impressive too.

My Green Pets 02-15-2016 12:20 PM

It's just such a weirdo. And I love the menthol scent; I wish it was stronger.

Wow, it is really stunning.

brsucculents 02-24-2016 11:46 AM

Very nice. Well grown.

My Green Pets 03-13-2016 09:38 PM

First flowers started fading today, over a month after they opened. Not too bad!

My Green Pets 03-19-2016 10:44 AM

At least I get a little pink show before they fade completely.

Oh wow! Look at those. Very nice.
