Three more Den. nobles from Yamamoto Orchids are in bloom
 

I bought 8 Den. nobles from Yamamoto Orchids in Hawaii at the end of last year. When I received them one was just beginning to bloom. Now three more are blooming. Comet King "Akatsuki" purple and yellow, Love Memory "Fizz" white and purple, and Fancy Yellow light yellow.

A very beautiful group of flowers. Mine are just now showing buds and usually bloom in March.

All of these came with buds so I really can't take credit for the blooms. It will be interesting to see how they do next year.

Mandy- They all slightly differ in fragrance but who can describe those difference accurately? lol

Let me try, Love Memory is honey & musk, overall very pleasing. Yellow one is just sweet, similar to Love Memory. Comet King is also basically the same but mine has more of stronger kick. can't say what it is.
A lot of these are all sweetly scented with varying degree of musky kick to it.
One very different variety is Oriental Smile 'Fantasy'.
It has all the sweet honey mixed with strong citrus scent. Very nice!

That's a very good description NYorchidman, I just love Yamamoto Den. nobles!! I had to know if they differed and in a good or bad way. My local orchid shop just got a shipment of these orchids and I want one sooo bad. My boyfriend is going to buy me an orchid in full bloom for Valentines (no discount orchid this time 😜) and I wAnt one of these.

I should have sniffed them but at the time I didn't? I can't go back bc the temptation is too much to get a discounted one.

Yes.. and I can't wait to see what this is scented like :) The flower buds right now, have quite the tinge of color

I don't hate to be a party pooper, but that cross is not fragrant. :evil:

Then, again, your nose might pick up something that I don't or your particular clone might be scented.

My last three Den nobles are just beginning to bloom. There is Wave King 'Akebono' which is similar to Comet king but with a larger flower and more purple. Fancy Angel 'Lycee' with very soft colors and Yellow Pansy 'March' whose flower is much more slender than the others. I have noticed that the colors darken with age so it will be interesting to see how Yellow Pansy changes color.

These three are the most alike. The biggest difference is the amount of purple and white. Lucky Angel 'Smash' is on the left with Comet King in the middle and Wave King on the right.

I love my Yamamoto Dendrobium. It's my first one and still has a few blooms on it though I purchased it in bloom a few months ago. It is Line Dance 'Minuet' and has a very soft and pleasant fragrance. Congrats on all your lovely blooms! :)
