GREAT!!!! the flower is so beautiful. Please, share how you grow your vandas. The plant has a marvelous good growing! Do you grow them outdoors? Mine are fine, but I must to watering twice per day to keep all the leaves in good state. How to induce new main roots?

Hi Mario,

I water at a minimum once a day, where they get drenched. I will also water a second time when required on the hot days. I fertilise twice a week at half strength.

My growing area is a shadehouse I designed for vandas. It is a roof only. The shade cloth is 64%-70% but with no walls it remains very bright and airy. My vandas are still very open to the elements and bugs so i need to keep on top of problems as they arise. I have a build thread in the greenhouse section.

As for root growth, I find that root growth is a combination of things, good water, good food, good light, good airflow, good temperature and good humidity.....i'm very fortunate in that temperature and humidity is no problem in the tropics!

I grow them too here in the tropics outdoors under shade cloth (50%). My big concern is when the lower leaves turn yellow. This year I must to watering twice even now in our "winter" to keep them hydrated and with no lower leaves falling down. In the other side of the coin is that I have plants flowering, so I must to adjust watering (maybe water quality is a thing to think about, here is hard water) and changing fertilize formula....
