Ornithophora radicans - very cute miniature from South America opened first 2 buds, it is growing 6 spikes at the same time! Mounted on cork, outside year round, bright shade, regular watering and fertilizing, letting dry between watering.

Many thanks, would you happen to have picture of your plant? Would like to see how large it got :-)

Very nice photography of these small flowers. I'd have to say this is one of the easiest little orchid weeds I ever grew. For me it bloomed consistently in a north window. I did find it to be a bit of a magnet for spider mites in low humidity.

WhiteRabbit 09-29-2014 07:50 PM

Sweet!

:-) This is hilarious, Jeff from TOF told me he was not able to grow this guy, I guess what works for one does not work for others, I have yet to make any of my Brassavola plants bloom, but I do not think I will have patience for them anymore, after this year, I have them for 4 and 2 years, they grow like crazy, they get enough light (reddish leaves), direct afternoon sun, good fertilizing, but these primadonas never did spike for me, when others have them in constant bloom without any work all the time. But I can make Telipogon grow and spike here in Florida :-)))))

I guess any orchid is easy if you happen to stumble on conditions it likes, and any orchid can be difficult if you're missing something elusive. Or they're just messing with our heads...

Wow that is totally awesome!!! And huge :-) I will be probably dividing it due to space so mine won't get to this specimen size plant, love it, really amazing!
