Dendrobium amabile 'Amparo', CCM/AOS

We went to Parkside Orchids Summer Fest 2014 last Saturday to enter this plant for judging and buy more orchids. We were very fortunate to get all flower spikes opened on time. Luckily, this plant get awarded 83 points cultural award (CCM). It has more than 350 flowers and 8 inflourecences.
Dendrobium amabile is endemic to China. I bought this plant from a chinese vendor 7 years ago in the Greater New York Orchid Show, Rockefeller center. Very expensive at that time ($60 for a 3-small-12-inch long canes). The flower appeared in a thick heavy stalk with 40-60 flowers each. The flower size is around 5-6 cm accross and no smell. Unfortunately, the flower last for 2-4 days only. Getting all the flower spikes to open at the same time is not that easy and near impossible. This is the reason why it is difficult getting this plant for judging in our area. We live in Baltimore and the closest judging center is in Washington district area (NCJC).
I grow this plant in my small greenhouse. I keep the temperature from 65 deg F in winter time and take it outside the greenhouse under 65% aluminet shade in the summer. Water less in winter and water more in summer. This plant requires bright light all year round (same as vanda). I heavily fertilize it begining March till October. Then stop fertilizer in winter.

This plant is around 38" high from the bottom to the highest point and almost 30" wide. It barely fit inside my Dodge caravan. I used lava rocks and barks as potting medium. It is very heavy, maybe around 40-50 pounds.

Thank you to all comments.
