Its finally beginning to bloom! So excited but thus far not really any smell to it rats. Will check again in the morning. The blooms are a green yellow and are about 2-3 inches across. So far the 2 biggest have bloomed and the others may still be a few days from. This us mine that came in bud.

Wow~ I didn't know they bloom in this time of the year!
Yours just opened by the way. It needs a few days to fully open and then turn yellow. The scent is quite pleasing, but ambiguous. It is one of those kind of nice, but kind of stinky type. To me, it was more like banana with something that I cannot exactly tell what it is. |
@NYCOrchidman I was as well. Maybe the seller has their grow cycles out of order? So will this lose its leaves now that it has begun blooming once its done?
|
No idea!
Where did you get it from? Southern Hemisphere? lol |
Northern hemisphere. Lol. Like wisconsin northern I think.
|
Ok.
Hmmm interesting! |
The person you got it from possibly got it from someone/somewhere else. It's not an uncommon practice.
Usual bloom time for both parents is fall/winter but I have (on a few occasions) see them in bloom as late as March/April. Never June though. Then again, orchids don't always follow the rules. :lol: It might head into dormancy after it's done blooming. Let the leaves dictate the culture. If they start to go..follow suit w/the appropriate watering schedule. Nearly every year I order at least a couple of Ctsm in from S America and it can take a year or two to get them fully adjusted to a N. hemisphere schedule. Not a big deal...just have to pay a little more attention to things until they get adjusted. BTW - my herrenhusanum (one of the parents) always blooms in Nov/Dec. Cute little thing! |
@Katrina awesome thank you.
@NYCorchidman I just adjusted it a bit and got the smell of one. It has an odd chrysanthimum smell w something else its odd all right. |
