Paph. parishii

I love the colours on this species. I'm a sucker for the species with twisted petals.

I love that one! Why have I not stumbled onto one before? Is it difficult to grow and bloom? Yours is lovely!

TOMMYMIAMI 05-29-2014 08:22 PM

Absolutely stunning and again, your pictures are just amazing!

I don't find it any harder than haynaldianum or lowii.

No, they're not difficult to grow. These are actually epiphytic Paphs. They just might not be all that available.

Whhhaaatt! That is gorgeous, wow, really cool flower. And great capture indeed!

Faan 05-30-2014 01:18 AM

Very nice plant and picture.

Bolero 05-30-2014 03:35 AM

Beautiful photography which reminds me why I am growing some of these from flask. I just need to remember that I can wait the years for them to flower........stunning.

billc 05-30-2014 06:12 AM

The twisted petals going from plain color to the deep purple is just outstanding. What a beautiful looking bloom!

NYCorchidman 05-30-2014 10:12 AM

Beautiful!
This one mixed with lowii is also beautiful.

How big is the plant?
Is this also from Orchid Inn?

eggshells 05-30-2014 10:56 AM

Thanks!

This is not from OI. This is a one growth plant that has a starting growth. The other multi-growth plant didn't flower this year. Perhaps next year.

WhiteRabbit 05-30-2014 05:28 PM

 Spectacular!

RosieC 06-02-2014 03:30 PM

Wow, great job growing and photographing, congratulations!!! Gonna check to see if I have one...if not I'm going shopping this weekend and will hope to pick one up.

NYCorchidman 06-13-2014 11:39 AM

How long have you had this?
and how do you water throughout the year??

I read paph. parishii comes from an area that is quite dry about half the year, so I was wondering how you grow yours.

Sounds like someone is getting bitten by the multi bug:)

Sorry for the late reply. I grow this moist year round but quick draining medium is a must. Put some styrofoam peanuts on the bottom of the pot should get your mix to this conditions.

Perhaps a picture on its native habitat should show what conditions it prefers.

Very easy plant to take care of in my opinion.

NYCorchidman 06-19-2014 01:49 PM

Ok, just like other paphs then.

Thanks.

Lovely photo!

Long ago, except they take too much space, so I just never shopped in that department.

Funny thing is I'm not interested at all in the two most popular multis, roths and sands, although I do like some of their hybrids.

Idealy, I would love to have some nice phillippinense, stonei, Lady Isabel, St Swithin, and Robinianum, but I don't think I will.

lotis146 06-20-2014 02:00 AM

This is really an amazing plant, and I have to say again really beautiful photography.

RosieC 07-22-2014 02:25 PM

Just wanted to let you know one of your photos above has been voted photo of the month for June. Congratulations :cheer:
