Dendrobium Polar Fire in bloom

A new plant that I've bought to replace a Dendrobium Polar Fire which was my first every Den, but which deteriorated over the last couple of years and finally give up over the winter.

Polar Fire is a trade name which is really common in Europe. I love it, even though I don't know what it's parentage is, and was so disappointed when my last one died. So just jumped at the chance of getting a new one.

Thanks everyone. I wasn't planning on buying any orchids that day, then spotted this which I haven't seen in the shop since I bought the first one, and a named Den Berry. I just had to get both. Hubby gave me that look... but agreed :)

Very pretty!

Very pretty. Here they are very common and absolutely not expensive. You can get them for under 10 euros at IKEA. I've checked the RHS Database to see if I could find the parentage, but it isn't even listed.

Probably similar price here, but I've not seen them very often even though they seem quite common online.

No it's not a listed name on the RHS. Unfortunately traders seem to choose names that bear no relation the the RHS registered names. :(

Thanks Tommy :)

One of my favorite as well.
Unfortunately, they are not so common.

I would buy it any day, especially the one you posted has lots of flowers in great fresh condition. How can one not buy this?

There are certain times of the year when there are tons of these plants come in, and I feel like a little kid at a candy store picking out my favorites.

I have only bought Polar Fire (and its look alike) about twice in NYC. :(
