Zygostates alleniana finally bloomed

My Zyt. alleniana finally bloomed! It is grown mounted on tree fern. Misted daily and dunked frequently. The spikes were first apparent in late January and the first flower opened last weekend. There are 2 spikes in bud and a maybe a third coming a long behind it. As you can image, it's so tiny that it is difficult to see the spikes! This is its first blooming for me as I purchased it in January 2013.

The coin in the photo is a U.S. quarter.

I have lost my care tag for this one, what kind of light do you give it? bright, or lower levels of light?
Thanks

NYCorchidman 04-18-2014 01:17 PM

Here is today's photo with more flowers. They are quite small and I think I detect a fragrance too. When I looked up the awards given to this orchid, I was amazed to see this description "Two hundred twelve petite, ice green flowers and 143 buds on 34 inflorescences" WOW! Must have been quite a display.

Sorry for the delay. I didn't see this until today. I keep mine in dappled light to bright shade conditions. It's get misted or dunked daily since it is usually quite dry in the morning. I'm indoors in the winter months and the low temps are 58F-60F at night, and I summer it outside.

There is another member of my OS who has one too!

Mine is in bud again right now. Two spikes that are quite developed and a third getting started. It's a long wait from spike start to flowers......
