Hi again, starting over
:helloHi, I am Starr, no not a Starr, that is just my name. :waving
. I joined the forum in 2013 but have not been as active posting as I have been reading posts . I have a large collection for a relative new comer. I have been collecting for about 4 years, but still an still learning my way. I love the discussions on this forum. So helpful. I live in Maryland, in Baltimore County and grow using a combination of window sills and cool lighting. I have many phials., several dendrobiums, several cattleyas, a few odcidinm, and three very stubborn Vandas. My tastes are very eclectic and probably this isn't the best way to collect. :blushing: I am a greedy collector I am afraid! Thanks for all the great information in the many postings I have read! Blooming Season: Light: Temperature: Deciduous: Free Flowering Throughout the Year Bright to Full Sun; 2750-3750 Footcandles (midday shade required) Warm ; 65°F min. to 95°F max. Miniature Mount: Size: Watering: Price: |

Hi Sherry! Did you make it the MOS show and sale two weekends ago? I should have stayed away, I am running out of space for orchids !
Thanks for the hello! Starr |
Welcome back!

Welcome back! I love many types of orchids too. As long as you can provide the proper types of conditions, I say go for it!!

What did you get? |
Glad you made it to the show. I think it's a nice little show.
I got a mini Bic, bright orange and red, a cool little Den. tannii, and a gorgeous vuyul. Aloha Sparks. Oh yes, because I can't get my beautiful vandas to bloom, my husband bought me a very over priced clay Vanda. At least I don't have to find a place under my lights for that one! : ), Really nice hearing from someone I here in Maryland. Starr |
MOS show
Sharry,
do you grow Vandas here in Maryland? If you do :bowing kudos and,how do you coax them into bloom? Starr |
Unfprtunately no
Sounds like you got some nice plants. I got fooled by the Orchid "sculptures" on display. Is that the same person who sells the clay ones?
I have never really tried to grow vandas - I did not think I could get them through the winter. They would do okay out the hot deck maybe... I like some the Rhynchostylis hybrids. And Hologlossums. I did get a Christensiana (sp?) but it wasn't progressing so I gave it away. |
Hi Starr,
