Server Problems?
 

Not sure if anyone else is having problems, but I'm having some major dramas loading up OB at the moment. it's taking an incredibly long time and sometimes doesn't load up at all for me and just seems to stall. If it is just me please let me know.

I've had the same problem, on and off, for several days now.

Same here. Last night around 6 pm edt and this morning.

I'm having problems as well. I thought it was my computer so quite relieved that's not the case

Same here. Doesn't load picture thumbnails too. Other pages (not OB) load well.

Same here intermittently over the last few days. At first I thought it was because I was on a slow connection, but doing the same today and I have a good connection here.

I'm having the same problem as well. I also can never get the thumbnail pictures to load the first time when I click on them.

I've asked Marty about these problems. He has replied...

" spammers are targeting our server. working on it."

My guess is that what the spammers are doing is causing the server resources to be used up on other things, leaving less for the forum... thus causing these problems getting the server to respond to the website :(

At least we know Marty is aware of it and working on it :)

Please everyone bear with us while this get's sorted.

I figured it had to be this site as everything else pops right up. Hope they get it fixed quickly!

More likely that the spammer was using the OB server to send out spam, thus using up the bandwidth that OB had available.

I agree, Marty didn't explain fully but from what he said and from my knowledge of how spammers operate, that was my assumption.

It doesn't mean they were spamming on the forum, (I've seen no sight of that as a moderator) but they were causing the server behind the scenes to have no resources left to run the website properly.

It seems good again this morning, so hopefully Marty has managed to stop them :biggrin:

Well, happened to me in the last hour… so not terminated.

It may be more a DoS attack (load up the server with requests till it breaks). Big thanks to the webmaster as I know how sick and tiring it can be to protect the server and raise the defenses while it's happening.
