Say a prayer for us!

We all ready have 1/4" of ice on the ground and power lines, and we are due to get clobbered again tonight, tomorrow and Wednesday, so please pray for us. I lost too many orchids last year, we don't need a repeat or worse performance this year.

cb977 12-10-2007 06:38 PM

 Stay safe...to all our members experiencing the misery of winter '07

Ross 12-10-2007 06:40 PM

I was already gonna post something. I really hope you midwest people come out OK. We (up north) will only get snow. Much easier to deal with.

Lagoon 12-10-2007 07:50 PM

Stay safe Gregg, best wishes for you all :)

Jo Ann 12-10-2007 08:52 PM

Just make sure everything is plugged in and turned on to the right temperatures…I’m praying for you too…...:goodluck:

shakkai 12-11-2007 02:55 AM

Everyone keep warm and stay safe! Best wishes!!

GreggC 12-11-2007 11:34 AM

Well, it missed us for the time being but

I'm not ready to:banana: or :cloud9: or :waving or :bananaslide: or  just yet. It could still get nasty tonight, according to the forecast. I noticed that Jacksonville made the Weather Channel with all the forzen limbs and stuff. Between 4,000 and 5,000 people are without power there. It's a mess!

cupcake 12-12-2007 11:36 AM

Oh Lord Gin I didn't realise it was real ice! Hope it warms up soon.

GreggC 12-12-2007 03:18 PM

Well, we made it through another night

without too much trouble. It has to hold out for one more day and then, it is supposed to warm a little bit. Then at the end of the week, it will cool off and snow some, but it will be a welcome sight compared to the ice.:waving :)

shakkai 12-12-2007 03:18 PM

Good to hear from you Gregg. Hope everyone else in the mid west is safe and sound and warm. We just heard over here about the power cuts and the state of emergency.... I sure hope this doesn't last long!

Don't know if it helps with your forcasts, but we were out in shirt sleeves (shoveling snow :blushing: ) this afternoon. First "warm" spell in weeks. Hopefully it's headed your way.

GreggC 12-16-2007 08:50 AM

Well, we got hit again

Not as badly as some of you folks did, obviously. I think there must be six or seven inches of snow on the ground, but that is a picnic compared to some of you in the northern Midwest and Northeast. All I can say is stay warm and :goodluck:

Ross 12-16-2007 09:34 AM

We got hammered last night on top of over a foot already on the ground. Good thing the snowblower is gassed up and ready to go.

shakkai 12-16-2007 11:01 AM

Now, where's that picture of you and your snowblower again, Ross??

Oh Please No!!!
I'm still recovering from the first time!

cb977 12-16-2007 11:41 AM

Well, it doesn't compare to the snowstorms lots of you guys are getting hit with but here in Paradise, we're in for a few wintry days. Tornado watches all through last night, huge thunderstorms (weather alarm went off twice during the night!), very windy today and the temps by me will be at or below 32 tonight and tomorrow night. That's an extreme change from the 72 we woke up to today!

My Grandfather lived in Florida

for quite a bit of time. When we went down to visit, I always found it amusing that people on the way down there in 50 degree weather had their winter coats on. I always thought to myself, what would they do if it was cold? ;)

:coverlaugh: I always laughed at them too, when we were coming down to visit. Now, I've become one of them! Not quite as drastically...but when there's a 40 degree temperature drop in a few hours, we FEEL it!
The worst part is preparing all of the landscaping and plants for the blast, the poor babies aren't used to that ;)

It's been noted here in my kneck of the woods that first "warm" days in spring (temps like 40s) folks run around in shorts and t-shirts  First cool days of fall, we put on all the fleece we own. :blushing: Think it's what one is used to. I can remember going down to St. Pete to visit Dad and Mom during Jan or Feb and sitting out in shorts and t-shirt trying for a quick tan :goodluck: and they were in sweaters and/or jackets. It was like 60s.

GreggC 12-16-2007 01:37 PM

Well, for the most part

you still don't have to worry about the weather like we do, which, if you have orchids, has to be a blessing in itself. When the weather looks bad up here, I just freak out, completely driving my wife crazy.

cb977 12-16-2007 01:46 PM

Ross, that's the blood thinning out down here :coverlaugh:

Gregg, I start worrying about cleaning off the roof, can the letter carrier get to the front door, can I get to the trash can, might people think we aren't home, there are sooo many things to worry about this time of year. What is this "white Christmas" stuff people talk about?

GreggC 12-16-2007 04:37 PM

I guess it should be

I'm nightmaring about a white Christmas?
