Not a great photo of the spike, but that's a main spike with five laterals and, as of this time, about 30 buds. Flower photo is from a previous blooming. I can't wait for this one! I'll post more when it blooms.

The cross is Phal, Candlelit Dreams 'Delightful'.

It is always great to get a nice show of blooms! Can't wait to see them all opened! :)

Is this a Baldan's Kaleidescope cousin? My BK 'Golden Treasure' likes to bloom like crazy too.

It looks like you're going to have a beautiful display of blooms very soon!

Paphluvr 02-15-2014 09:30 PM

The first bud on the main stem just started to open today, 2/15.

Oh man you're in for a real show! Have you got it in a window, greenhouse, or what?

Top shelf of a four shelf rack in my living-room. It's on the east end of the rack, about 2' in from a south facing window shaded by a shear curtain on very sunny days. Also on sunny days, I have an overhead fan that I run in reverse (sucks up and spreads the air along the ceiling and walls) for air circulation. The largest leaves are about 14 x 4.5" and it's growing in a 10" shallow pot in coarse bark.

Hope that answers your questions.

Wowza, what have you been feeding that thing!!!

NYCorchidman 02-17-2014 10:26 PM

That is exciting!!! :)

I have a mini phal that is blooming for the third time, and I'm excited that it has two side spikes for the first time!

Sorry, I don't know the parentage of this cross. I haven't been able to find anything on the internet about it. Maybe some of the Phaleanopsis specialists could shed some light on this for us?

This is Phal. Wyocena x Hausermann's Candy. Yes it is a cousin to Baldan's Kaleidoscope per OrchidWiz.

Thanks, Quiltergal. I think I may have bought this at Hausermann's, but I bought it quite some time ago. I don't keep records like I used to.

This is Phal. Candlelit Dreams 'Delightful'. It is related to Phal. Balden's Kaleidoscope. It has one main stem and five lateral branches carrying 35 flowers/buds. The overall length of the spike is about 2'. The leaves (which I don't show) are about 2'l x 5"w. I've had the plant for 15+ yrs.

Joyorchid 03-18-2014 10:10 AM

Just... WOW! Absolutely lovely.

gjanick 03-18-2014 07:28 PM

I think that you have a true treasure forming. I can't wait to see the blooms! Greg.
