Phal. I-Hsin Sunflower

This one didn't perform well this year because it was transitioning from pot life t basket life, but I think it will look nice next year!

Very pretty yellow.

Leafmite 01-02-2014 09:05 PM

The flower is quite a pretty color and I really like the form. Very nice. Your photography is fantastic, as always, too. :)

Thanks everyone!

I think you're right, Bob. It probably will do well in that basket. Don't cut the spike off when the flower fades. That's a hybrid that can produce more buds on the same spike either later this year or when it blooms again next year. Phal. I-Hsin Sunflower is one of my favorite bright yellows. Your's is beautiful and the photographs are excellent.

Quay the one I got when you got yours is a beast. It loves sh. Mine is blooming too but will lose its spikes as it got a sudden attack of mealies.

Thank you! I might cut the spike on it in hopes that next year it will have a better looking display. I think that on a fresh spike, things tend to display better.

Quick, hit it with some Bayer 3-in-1!

I just thought of something kind of sad. For most of these blooming right now, this is my last time to see them bloom. By this time nest year, most of them will be sold and gone :(

quiltergal 01-04-2014 11:01 AM

Going away to college? That's a bummer. Are you keeping any?

You got! Off to college! Kind of sucks, but I'm excited to move on!! I think I'm gonna keep a few, the really special ones. There are some thing that I would be hard pressed to find again or that have sentimental value so I'll find a way to keep those.

TOMMYMIAMI 01-04-2014 11:10 PM

Gorgeous!

Call_Me_Bob 01-04-2014 11:20 PM

Thanks Tommy!

MattWoelfsen 01-04-2014 11:36 PM

Quay-San, I hope you keep your Neos. Take them with you to college. They take up such a small amount of space. Perhaps they will help you slay the college dragons, like they did for the ancient Samurai of legend!

Good luck with college! Orchid Growers have some special virtues that are helpful in life in general that includes going through schooling.

Yeha, that probably won't happen. My boss said he would keep a few for me if I have some special ones I want to keep.

I have had this hybrid for 3 years. It blooms every year with one spike and averages about 8 eight flowers. You will be pleased.

l1sav 01-05-2014 04:44 PM

To me, it doesn't look like I-hsin Sunflower. The shape is different and the red bars don't show up on I-hsin Sunflower

RosieC 02-06-2014 12:40 PM

Gorgeous flower, love the colour!

Such a shame you can't keep them all when you go to collage :(
