This is a very special plant for me; I have always seen it and wanted one for my collection of vandas. To my surprise I was given one as a gift for helping out a friend. It even has 4 relatively large keikis on it! I always was fascinated at how the throat of the flower blended in with the petals/sepals and the contrast you get with the pale anther cap. Most vandas have a distinctly contrasting throat from the flower but on Apec blue it really blends and makes the flower pop and almost as if all petals & sepals are fused into one round surface with a dot in the middle. :bowing
Hope you can appreciate this beauty as much as I do; enjoy!

Gorgeous!! I can understand why you wanted one for your collection! I also love the coloring and agree that it is very different for a vanda.

TOMMYMIAMI 10-29-2013 01:33 AM

Wow, this is one stunning plant and gorgeous spikes! Great growing!

I know right! If it was for the camera flash it would look like round platters with white dots.

It was only this morning that I was thinking to myself that you'd been a bit quiet of late! A very nice plant and good looking flowers mate!

Weeellll.....actually I have a ton more blooms to photograph, but I been traveling and I just got back home. It was night time and I decided to start with this sexy lady cuz she's on my back veranda. :)
There are a few that are alrdy fading which I might only get a pic of a single bloom but oh well. Lol

WhiteRabbit 10-29-2013 09:31 PM

:) I'll trade you a keiki for a piece/keiki off your macarena iglesias or one of ur gorgeous catts.

Mokeck 11-02-2013 01:21 PM

I've started to read your every word and this is one reason why. This beautiful Vanda has been grown to perfection. As nice as the pictures are, I'll bet the WOW factor is tripled in person. That looks huge. The flowers are beautifully shaped and what a rich, saturated color!

Thanks so much for those encouraging words. I am very flattered!
I am carrying it for judging. I'm kinda nervous! :blushing:

I don't see why you should be. For better or worse, I have a pretty critical eye for good flowers (not a judge, but play one on TV). This is undoubtedly in the stratosphere as regards almost every metric used to judge Vanda that I can think of. Please report back after she gets her award! :winner:

Your plants are gorgeous, the only thing you need to be nervous about is someone taking them out the back door when your not looking because of their beauty!

Good luck with the judging even though I don't think you need luck because you have "skills", growing skills. Let us know how it goes and what awards you get.

Carpe Diem 11-02-2013 02:45 PM

:congrats: Great growing! The award is a sure thing!

CR7cristiano 11-02-2013 07:59 PM

Close but no cigar! Next time i'll get it, because its a first time bloomer they say flowers have potential to be better. It was a good experience though. :)

AussieVanda 11-02-2013 08:08 PM

Bummer mate, must be some top quality growers in your area.

CR7cristiano 11-02-2013 08:38 PM

It wasn't a matters of the growers in the area....it was simply the flower quality could be better.....even if I was the only on entering....
There was no firt second or third. :)

nikkik 11-02-2013 09:20 PM

It's still a gorgeous plant!

CR7cristiano 11-02-2013 09:23 PM

You don't gotta tell me twice :)

Mokeck 11-03-2013 02:10 PM

Maybe next time you use the orchid iron? :-) Disappointing but like others said, still a beauty.

CR7cristiano 11-03-2013 04:36 PM

It will win an award, this just wasn't it's time

Carpe Diem 11-03-2013 05:45 PM

Sorry it didn't work out THIS time, but there is always next year! :)

I love it! That hint of red in the middle really sets it off.
