This show looks to be even better than last year. Most of these vendors are offering pre-order discounts which is a great way to get your orchids without weather delays and save on shipping!

I would love to go!
I should preorder some paphs from piping rock.

Is there a way to get there via bus or train form Manhattan??

cbuchman 12-02-2013 05:06 PM

I think there is a way to get there on the bus with a short walk at the end. Are you a member of MOS? There are others coming by car and I can put you in touch with them.

NYCorchidman 12-02-2013 05:10 PM

I am. It seems like most of them do not have a car though.
I will talk to some people next week when there is going to be a year ending auction. I guess I will save my money for the January show. lol

billc 12-03-2013 02:41 AM

I am going to try to make it there this year, some of my favorite vendors are going to be there.

Bill

cbuchman 12-03-2013 09:29 AM

Good luck with all the show preparation!!! :)

I'll try to get there on the Saturday! Sounds interesting.

I doubt I'll be awake in time to see the Chinese Cymbidiums presentation, but I'd like to see basics of repotting though, you can never learn too many tips on that subject!

Plus an excuse to buy a few more plants!

Thanks, Carrie!

I think that Saturday afternoon looks like it will be the best time for us to come as far as the workshops are concerned. I appreciate the follow-up! :)

My friend and I agreed that it will be nice to have something to look forward to in January. What happens if it is bad weather?

cbuchman 12-24-2013 11:06 AM

We go forward regardless of the weather. Keep your fingers crossed. Be sure to ask for me to say hello!

billc 12-24-2013 11:23 AM

I was going to pop in Friday afternoon but now I see the lighting and photography sessions are in the morning. I can feel a sick day coming on:).

If you are in the metro NY-NJ area you should stop by this show. I went this morning and the exhibits are outstanding. There are lots of beauties for sale also. Looked to me like the vendors were doing a brisk business. I met Carrie and I have to say everything was well organized. Good job Carrie!

Thanks Bill. It's been fun pulling the show together and getting meet all my fellow orchid enthusiasts. Thanks for coming and introducing yourself!

terracotta7 01-19-2014 07:38 AM

Carrie,
My friend and I had a great time at the show yesterday. We went to three of the workshops in the afternoon and I thought all the speakers were excellent!
I exercised great restraint at the vendors tables and only came home with a max. variablilis from Ten Shin. I went back later for a Chinese cymbidium, but no one was at the table. Fate?

I asked for you, but one of the speakers, Kim, said that you weren't there at that time. Sorry I missed you!!!

On the drive back, Fran and I agreed that we will have to make plans to come again next year. I can see that it was a very well-planned show and the displays were just exquisite! Great job! And a hearty 'thank you' to your society for the education workshops!

cbuchman 01-20-2014 08:59 AM

Thanks Terracotta7! I'm sorry I missed you too. I couldn't be there on Saturday afternoon. It was a lot of work but very rewarding.
