Restrepia brachypus orange & Pleurothallis restrepia
 

Ok, got to these species only some few months ago when I read here on OB that some grow them in success in warmer climates. Restrepia brachypus orange bloom is for sure not result of my care, I got this one only some 3 weeks ago, and it had this spike already forming, however at least it did not die with the heat shock and it has actually another 2 brand new spikes forming now! It has bigger bloom when it is open than second smaller brother, Pleurothallis restrepia trichoglossum. That guy was my first from this group, and I have it for cca 2 months, it seems it did like our summer and actually it did bloom with it's first spike 2 weeks ago! I do keep them in shaded part, no direct sun what so evere, section with Masdevallias, run fan there at least a few hours a day, and I do ice pan nights - I fill turkey alumni baking pan (the biggest size) with big ice blocks every night, place oven wire rack over it and place all my masdies and restreppias over it to get some temp differences overnight:-)

Thanks for bringing all those Restrepias. You certainly do an intense care. A proper species identification in Restrepias is something I never learned.

Many thanks to everyone, they are small but I found their blooms so intriguing, and the color is always amazing!

Tom how did you manage care of these while you went on your trip?

My hubby bubby pulled through, and somehow with all my ribbons and instructions on the phone managed to water them, plus they do not need to be watered every day, so it was ok:-) It seems they did like his care, now they are blooming, after I came back:-)))

hahah, good :) really intensive work there, wow so I want a Masdevallia herradurae now, hahaha.

Tom, what are the new mini's you have now? oh by the way the guy that sold me the dressleri, might have more coming up, so I'll see if he can sell some to you:

herradurae is doing so much better when mounted on hygrolon now! I did add to hygrolon Scaphosepalum rapax, my Bulbo rosary beads is actually having 3 spikes right now, they should open soon, haraella has 2 spikes opening now and 1 growing, and I should add Masdevallia erinacea at the end of this month. Than more mini's next month when Ecuagenera will bring my order to show here in Miami, let's hope this time they will make it:-)
