Phaleanopsis leaf problem HELP
 

One of my phals has a problem with leaves that keeps getting worse. Yellow thinning areas, black spots and now some twisty leaves. The roots look great. Only one bottom leaf is unaffected.
I'm not sure what to do. Have kept her isolated but she should be with the other plants. Photo attached.

Spotting like that is making me think it might be bacterial, but I don't know a lot about bacterial issues with orchids so I'm just going to post this here to give your thread a bump. :D

I've never had this problem before. When you feel over the spots they are rough. I can send more photos if anyone needs.

would it help if I sent more pix? I did get a reply it might be bacterial, but unsure. She doesn't like to be isolated and would like to be back with the others.

Could be many different disease conditions but no matter what it is.....toss it. It is too far gone to do much about and is a very big threat to your collection to keep around. The possible cures are too involved to warrant effort. Good sanitation and good air movement around your plants are the key to keeping these micro fungal and fungal attacks at bay. Wet conditions and lack of air movement are probably the reason this progressed. Sorry. Don't touch the plant and then touch anything in your plant area. Thank you Mr. Mickelso. I had a feeling I should do this, but I always feel so bad about it. Especially because it has all these healthy new roots.

Wow, healthy new roots like that and then the leaves....yikes....I am sorry but I would agree with Mr. Mickelso...but maybe on a positive note none of your other plants in your collection are showing issues...and hopefully it was not a 150.00 plant...hopefully.....

I didn't want to take a chance. No, it wasn't an expensive plant thank God.

I'm glad you tossed it. It could have been mesophyll cell collapse which can happen after a plant has been chilled or watered with cold water. But there is also a disease among Phals. called Taiwan Yellows that looks much like that. A number of my Phals have had it and it seems to be extremely contagious to other Phals. I have tossed nearly all of mine because of this. I have two beautiful healthy ones in the house but if they go out to the greenhouse where one sickly one remains-they will almost guaranteed get it as well. I haven't found a cure even tho I have treated them with Physan and Cleary's. I think its permanent once they get it. The only reason I am stubbornly hanging on to the one ailing phal is because it was a hard to find named hybrid that I paid to have shipped to me and it only has a few marks. So I keep hoping it is not the same problem. I've had it as a healthy plant for several years. But I think it is eventually headed for the garbage.
