Love this Mokara to death. The blooms have such lovely substance and very waxy appearance. Looking at them from afar they have a glow to them; even more so under certain artificial lighting. Tall spike with 22 or more blooms. Blooms are 2.5 to 3 inches. I definitely want to get a lot more to put them together in a stone & charcoal bed; will be quite the show.

Wonderful blooms!
The third picture captured the true color.
I love the spots on this flower and the edges have the sunrise colors.
You have a young plant. This can grow really tall through the years.

FSUOrchids 05-02-2013 04:29 PM

What pot are you growing that in?

WhiteRabbit 05-02-2013 05:38 PM

 Spectacular!

Appreciate you taking the time Bud!
That waxy texture on the edges and the glow of this flower really caught my attention when I saw my friend selling them at the local orchid show. She had it in her display booth with all her other vandas too and the colour alone made this one jump out at you!
This was one of the more mature plants she had aside from hers which wasn't for sale -__- that was also on the show bench with the tallest spike and most pristine flowers. So i just had to go by her home to pick one up! What I need to do is go back and buy lots more and make another stone bed for these kind and Aranda Jairak Heartthrob 'Dark Red'. A sea of these together will be breathtaking. :bowing

Its in a 6 inch plastic pot.
When its time to make a new bed of orchids i will usually just dig up the area fill with stone, charcoal and wood chunks and plant most of the pot into the stone so its not visible and let them grow; staking with thick wooden makeshift stakes or bamboo. :)

This glowing colour scheme & waxy substance isn't very common to this Mokara cross; this makes this a possible award candidate when it matures. :)
Thanks!!

Thank you! I really look forward to the next spike; hopefully a dbl spike! This one had a bit of water damage on a cpl flowers, but I loved the rounded form with little to no window between the petals. And nice leaves n strong roots. When I get a new spike my culture will have taken its toll so I'm excited!

SlipperGirl 05-10-2013 09:39 PM

WOW!!! that is gorgeous

I have a Mokara Chao Praya Sunset in spike now. I can hardly wait for it to bloom.

CR7cristiano 06-01-2013 06:25 PM

It really is gorgeous. Mine is now on the last of its blooms; all the rest have faded now. You will enjoy it. I have a prapin spot about to bloom and a noorah alsagoff blue in spike now. :) Mokara & Arandas are lovely when large n in a rock bed together.

wonderlen3000 06-05-2013 10:19 AM

love love love Mokara. I just love Vandas. How did u manage to bloom them? Though they need 12 hrs light in tropic to bloom.

CR7cristiano 06-05-2013 12:56 PM

Hmm, well I live in Jamaica so light isn't really a problem for me. But they don't need 12 hrs of light. 6-8hrs is perfectly fine.

rastafouni 06-07-2013 10:59 PM

Fantastic ! What a great color too.

MandaneWiser 06-08-2013 10:07 AM

Hi CR7cristiano, do you place this Mokara under full sun?

I have a pot of a similar Mokara though shorter spikes. :)
Pic is of the nursery.

This mokara was under 30% shade when i picked it up from my friend. It has just started to hit maturity so so full sun at this size would really shock the mokara; especially when summer is starting to peak. I added it to my rock garden where it gets full morning sun until midday where it is shaded by a palm where it may get some dappled light and some light from he setting sun during different months of the year, not summer though. When it grows about a foot more if I decide to move it I will allow it to get full sun.

I noticed however that those don't seem to be Mokara. They look like semi-terete vanda by the leaves. If they are, which I think they are then at those sizes they can take full sun. Just don't take them and put them in the full sun like that. Wait for the cooler seasons where the sun & heat isn't so intense so it can transition to the new location. I live in Jamaica so for me I would introduce my semi-terete to full sun in the fall/winter but if you experience cold winters then turn of spring would suit you.
