Cattleya intermedia var. coerulea

First time blooming!
I got this a couple of years ago as a large seedling/nbs. I am a bit disappointed as it should be aquinii variety as well. I don't know if it's possible that it may have splash petals in the future ? I love it, even if not. I wasn't aware that the blooms would be so large in relation to the size of the plant! I kept thinking surely the buds would open, and they kept getting bigger! Blooms are 4" across - the growth they are on has a 3 - 3.5" pbulb topped by 4" foliage. If happy sap is an indication, this plant is ecstatic ;) Thanks for looking :) |
Another one that is pure, simple beauty.

Yes, mine just started opening blooms yesterday - they look great again this year! I was expecting aquinnii (both parents were aquinniis according to the tag), but as great as the blooms are, I am still very happy with them! :D |
