Just got the blinds up and got the rest of my orchids in the room, still have more to bring up from the basement. More pic to come as I fill the room

Wow nice! I am a windowsill grower, quite literally - just have my plants directly on my narrow sills :p. A few small ones get hung from the curtain rods ;)

the movable hooks and the window wooden shelf is a great idea....I can find those at the Saturday flea market....I have four of the metal tier as well....your windows are bright and clean.

I just washed the windows so I could hang the blinds, the hooks and brackets came from the flea market, the best place to find stuff for plants.
The Christmas cactus is call Jolly dancer and its about 10 years old.
I wish the room was bigger so I could get of my tropicals in there

It's huge.... we have a 4 year old one that I thought was an impressive size...
It also didn't bloom this year.. oh well.
Love your setup!

The top shelf are mostly cattleya, right? I can just imagine how heavenly the room must smell when they are in bloom. :D

Me too; my ledge is only 3.5" wide ;). I re-purposed a few old springy metal shower caddys that weren't being used anymore to hold my larger clay pots and ceramic catch pots. Here are a couple closeups without the curtains.

Though about and rejected hanging more from the top shelves, but I do like the idea of hanging some from the curtain rods. Hmmm, could maybe accommodate some more minis phals in lightweight plastic net pots. My b-days in a month and a half; I might be able to put more orchids back on my wish list:blushing:. lol.

Ferns Daddy 02-01-2013 09:33 AM

I'm still waiting for my catts to bloom, I love the mini phals because they don't take up much room.
if you want to make your window sill bigger you can use a cat shelf that just hooks onto the windowsill

burz 02-01-2013 09:47 AM

What direction is your window facing? Very nice collection:)

Ferns Daddy 02-01-2013 10:29 AM

The windows face east, south and west, the west window will be shaded by the trees in the late afternoon the other windows have blinds to help cut some of the sun in the summer
