Phal amabilis first bloom!
 

I got this orchid from a friend before I was into orchids about 3 and a half years ago.
It was pretty much dead..
I somehow managed to get it into good health and learned about basic orchid care in the process.
Last winter it rewarded me with a small flower spike.
Which was karate chopped off accidentally by my fiance before any of the buds could open.
This year it sent up a spike from the spike that was karate chopped. As well as another spike.
The spike that's reblooming off the old spike has five buds and the new spike has thirteen.
The very first flower of my first orchid is starting to open!
I'm so excited.

Gorgeous blooms....its a young plant yet it is vigorous, happy and healthy giving you two spikes! Good growing !

The reblooming spike is almost completely open.
The last flower bud is lagging way behind the others. I suspect it will open around the same time the buds on the other spike start to open.

The second spike has started to open...

Yay for new blooms - it takes so much patience growing orchids but the rewards are so worth it!
