Blooms are very similar to my Den. bigibbum v compactum, canes are taller and leafier tho. Another where the color is hard to capture - you can see the difference under different light ( bright shade vs bright sun). Actual color is more vivid. Five spikes, tho three have only a few buds/blooms - but the other two are quite nice :) Thanks for looking :) |
Very cute! I love mini dendrobiums.
|
Gorgeous flowers and photos.
|
Very nice! I have a similar one, but it's not blooming :(
|
Very floriferous! I only have a couple of these bigibbum type but I seem to blast buds when they are a good size and the leaves get spotted and fall off. Not sure what I do wrong!
Yours is lovely! |
Beautiful flowers, I have one that is in spike now but is nowhere the size of yours. This is the second year it has bloomed for me.
|
WOW! Beautiful plant and loads of flowers.
It obviously loves how you treat it. |
This is a spectacular display of blooms...I love the vivid colors....it seems like a Biggibum compactum, but the canes are long....

growing indoors this year, I know I've been getting up in the morning and it's about 66 in the house, and it's been just fine |
Very cute and nice color, and look great in your pictures!
I see lots of these mini dendrobiums at stores now. very tempting. hehehe Yours do look like bigibbum (I'm sure it was used as a parent somewhere along the breeding line) but flower shape is not as full and round as bigibbum. Bigibbums withstand quite low temperature in the wild. dry and chilly rest season. Spatulata types are true tropical found closer to the equator. |

I have a bigibbum v compactum (posted bloom pix last week, I think ?)- you're right about the difference in shape - I haven't pushed low temps on that one, tho it probably gets a bit lower than the usual recommended temps in winter - but most of my orchids do ;) |
Yeah, I don't think the hybrids need that cool dry rest.
Many orchids will take lower than recommended minimum as long as they are kept on the dry side and got used to it slowly. I don't push the limit though. lol |
