Hello All :)

Now, from previous posts/threads, I know there are some of you out there who don't like white flowers, but I like to think this might make you smile just a little bit...... ;)

WhiteRabbit 06-20-2012 07:06 PM

I love white orchids...especially the fragrant ones....I just cant get enough....
In fact I have several white flowered Dendrobiums ....but I dont have this orchid named after Apollo's spring dream....now I am obsessing.....I MUST have this

Gorgeousness! Not only flowers look perfect, but the canes look so healthy, too!

Rowangreen 06-21-2012 05:59 AM

I picked up one of these at my orchid meeting last month. Has a lovely scent! Mine had just it's last flowers (now gone) and is now growing 5 new canes! I have some mixed feelings about keeping such a big, slightly messy, orchid untill it flowers again... but I think it will be worth it!

Jennyfleur 06-21-2012 07:15 AM

Thanks everyone :)

Rowangreen, 5 new canes!! Looking forward to your pics next year already!

Unfortunately, I haven't noticed much of a scent on mine, unless I put my nose right up to it :(

My god thats one gorgeous den -- WOW!! :bowing

Silje 06-22-2012 09:28 AM

Wow!
It's so beautiful!

I love these. I got a couple of small stems sent in the mail, and they are lying on moist river sand at the moment. They shoot very nice, and they grow fast. I hope they continue like this and that I will have flowers like these in a couple of years.

What did you do to make it so happy? :)

Jennyfleur 06-22-2012 12:58 PM

I'm sure they will :) I don't do anything special with any of my orchids - just water (rain water) when they need it and feed when I remember! Sorry, that must sound really unhelpful!

JaneEyre 06-22-2012 01:04 PM

Oh I'm drooling now... I'm smitten by white flowers. You have such a healthy den! And what a show!

Jenny:
What a lovely plant! Whoever said they don't like white orchid must not really like orchids! This plant is lovely and I love the green throat!
Some nobiles will not give out scent unless they receive a blast of light and warmth. Put it in a sunny window in late afternoon indoors and you might be able to smell something.

Thanks Andrew, I'll try it :)

lostonthebeach 06-23-2012 02:14 PM

Who wouldn't like this beautiful plant?

RosieC 06-23-2012 02:40 PM

Really lovely!

How do you grow this one. I was given a similar looking orchid in March and I don't really know how to grow it. Currently it's in an east window in my dining room and as with everything I'm probably not watering it enough. It's starting to grow new shoots which is a start.

SydneyH 06-23-2012 03:09 PM

What a gorgeous and healthy happy plant! I like the green throat on the flowers.

Jennyfleur 06-24-2012 05:02 AM

Thanks everyone :)

Rosie, this one is in a similar position to the firebird (but on the floor due to lack of cabinet/ shelf space!) - so south-facing room and diffuse light. I mist everything in this room everyday/ every other day to help with the humidity. It's in a big bark mix and so gets watered once a week (or, in the brief spells of 'hot' we've had, twice a week). Umm, not much else to say really.

RosieC 06-25-2012 05:43 AM

Thanks Jenny, I think I need to move this one to the other side of my house but otherwise sounds similar. I was already suspecting it needed more light.
