Promenaea

First bloom from what I got as a rootless little mess back in March. I'd say it has recovered quite well!

Very nice. It looks like a cactus flower, the leaves gives it the orchid giveaway...from no roots to this beautiful bloom...good growing.

WhiteRabbit 06-02-2012 08:55 PM

Excellent - beautiful bloom! Great save!

I'd say more important than the flower itself, (although, it is a beautiful flower)...

Nice little root growing underneath all those leaves and such. ;)

Congrats, great save

SydneyH 06-03-2012 01:44 PM

Wonderful save! I love that flower.

Paula Frayne 06-04-2012 09:28 PM

I love it. Good growing.

Really cool!

theroc1217 01-08-2013 09:19 PM

What'd you do to save it? I got one recently with only a few short roots. How should I be caring for it?

ronaldhanko 01-08-2013 10:04 PM

Wonderful! Such an impressive flower.

As to growing it, roc, it likes cool temps, high humidity and lower light. I grow mine in a net pot in sphagnum.

theroc1217 01-08-2013 10:06 PM

Thanks! I've just started reading your blog. Do you ever sell divisions?

ronaldhanko 01-09-2013 12:09 AM

Sure, whenever they're available.

theroc1217 01-09-2013 01:15 AM

You have a storefront?

ronaldhanko 01-09-2013 10:22 AM

I don't. I just grow the plants for my own pleasure.

Aki_James 01-12-2013 11:35 PM

Beauty-full love the colour, I love Promenaeas I used to have a lovely chartreuse coloured one that seemed like it was always in bloom. Such dainty plants. This one must love you to put out such a lovely flower.

ronaldhanko 01-13-2013 09:26 AM

Thanks. The green one could be P. rollisonii, though there are several other greenish Promenaeas.
