This plant is constantly in bloom, got it from Andy's Orchids about 6 years. It has really grown since then. It has never been out of flower. Here is my most recent attempt at getting a picture of the tiny tiny tiny tiny did I say TINY!!!! flowers. The flowers I would say are about 4-6 mm in legth from top to bottom.

Thats nice. I wonder, what would be the pollinators.

Tindomul 04-27-2012 09:22 PM

Maybe fruit flies. I get a lot of fruitr from this orchid, I think its fruit flies. I put fruit flies in the terrarium where this plant is in to feed the salamanders I keep in there.

Cool shot and a really neat plant, Tindo.

Really cool Tindo! I find Platysteles fascinating. The plants and flowers are so tiny but very intricate.

I believe many Pleurothallids are pollinated by fungus gnats in the wild (Draculas for sure), so something like a fruit fly would probably make a good pollinator.

What type of salamanders do you keep in there?

I have a 4 toed salamander which was rescued from a botany class 4 years ago. They went out to a bog and collected a bucket full of sphagnum. When they got back from the trip in the sphagnum was a little 4 toed salamander. Been with me ever since.
I see him/her every three months or so.

Goods14 04-27-2012 11:32 PM

Very cool! Does it only need FFs or do you feed something bigger sometimes?

Tindomul 04-28-2012 12:00 AM

I can't give it anything bigger as it would be too big for it. Its a very small Sallamander.
