Clear Pots

Does anyone know of a Canadian source for clear/translucent plant pots?

A couple of years ago I purchased some from Charley's Greenhouse. They were an excellent product, but would like to shop a little closer to home if possible.

I'm looking for some clear pots too!!

Hey there Oscarman!! :) I also live in Edmonton and am currently trying to get some myself. I have been in contact with Ray to see if I can order some from him for cheap. If it’s going to cost too much through him then I will ask around in the society….I will be seeing my fellow executive members next Saturday for a BBQ and will see if they can help.

Sounds like a perfect opportunity to tell others about OrchidBoard and how it can facilitate the communication of your society's members and management

enjoy the BBQ

Hey Marty! Actually this board's URL was put into our newsletter in May or June for everyone...that's how I found out about it. :)

Marty 07-14-2005 07:17 PM

I know, I got a copy. It was a nice write up too! Forums are really cool when a community of people, that actually interract a little in real life join together. That's why I'd really like for societies to join in. I know they're still a bit weary since it's a new site.... OB needs a bit more time to grow. We'll get there  I just need a bit more time to add few more features and spruce things up a little with flash intro, etc

Yeah I always look forward to our meetings....they are always so much fun and soooooo many plants to buy!! :D I know I have seen Chuck Taylor's name here somewhere....he is a past director who grows and sells beautiful Phrags! I just got one from him a couple of months ago.

I'm really hoping to hear from Ray about the clear pots though....maybe if enough of us in the same area order from him, it won't cost as much for shipping & handling.

I didn't see a reply from Ray, so I'll jump in and state that I have a gazillion sizes of clear pots, and can easily ship to Canada..it's fairly reasonable to ship to you too!

There may be duties to be paid on the Canadian side of things, but so far none of my Canadian customers has mentioned them to me.. I know some things are dutiable and some not.

You can check my website at www.QuarterAcreOrchids.com, and please feel free to ask any questions about anything I have!

Actually Stef, we took the conversation off-line a long time ago.

I found some clear pots in Edmonton!!!

Hey Oscarman!

I found a guy on Yellowhead Trail and 90th Street that sells them. I am going to check this week and see what he has. You interested? :D

Who's the 'guy' - Yellowhead and 90th St, that is not far from me.

I am indeed, let me know what you find out. I am looking for the sizes 4-6", but also hoping for smaller ones like 2 -3" for my Phal seedlings ready to pot up.

TeresaE 08-08-2005 04:22 PM

It's called Mr. T. Greenhouse Supply
Ph: 474-2123
Hours are Mon-Fri from 9-6 and Sat from 9-4:30

You have to turn at 90th street and then go east right afterwards....he is along the Trail and you can see it right from the road. I am interested to see what else he has also! :)

TeresaE 08-09-2005 11:43 AM

So as it turns out the guy completely misunderstood me. :? :(

He has the black pots with all the holes in them plus regular ones and that's all. I told him clear, but maybe he thought it was the baskets I meant? Ah well, I guess it's time to give up.

I know one guy in our society who grows Paphs and Phrags uses the wonton soup containers with holdes in the bottom and they seem to work pretty well, but a lot of them are not opaque though. *sigh*

TeresaE 08-09-2005 02:27 PM

Oscarman, I'm getting a list together for myself for Ray, so can you let me know what you want so we can order them from him soon? Thanks!

Oscarman 08-09-2005 02:32 PM

Too bad Mr. T can't deliver the goods.....so much for local

I sent you a PM

Was this issue ever resolved? Is there a supplier in Edmonton? Canada?
