Coelogyne lawrenceana

Except for Coelogyne pandurata that I find really beautiful, I am not really Coelogyne guy... I mean they are nice, but I don't fall for them. Anyway, I am an orchid lover so when I was presented this lawrenceana I wanted to test my skills with this genus. Well, or the plant is easy (probably the case here  ) or I'm getting skilled with Coelogynes:D .

I might say so, Shirley:D ! I am looking for Coelogyne pandurata now, but the true species. That one I like very much. I bought one two years ago, but when the flowers appeared it ended up being Coelogyne Burfordiense, a primary hybrid of C. pandurata with C. asperata, if memory serves me well. You can imagine how happy I was when discovered this small seller 'mistake'!

I'm curious what temps you grow this one in.

Rosim_in_BR 10-05-2007 04:55 PM

Summer:
Day temps: min. 75ºF, max. 93ºF
Night: 68ºF
Winter:
Day temps: min. 59ºF, max. 75ºF
Night: 46ºF
Spring and fall are transitional between these. Consider that these are average temps for each situation.

Mauro,
Coel. lawrenceana isn't the easiest Coel. to grow; I think you are becoming skilled with these 'chids! You can find Coel. pandurata in the "Orquidário 4 Estações" (I didn't bought mine there, but I guess they are reliable)

Hi Fred! Anselmo (Orq. 4 Estac.) is an old friend. I bought my Coel. "pandurata" there, but when it bloomed it ended up being a primary hybrid named Coel. Burfordiense. I went to see other plants he has and they are all Burfordiense (if memory serves me well, Burfordiense = Coel. pandurata x Coel. aristata). I thought he had fixed his site...
By the way, I was given a Coelogyne plant times ago and it has bloomed today. It seems to be Coel. pandurata. I'm checking out to see the correct identity.

Hello everyone, I am just a new kid on this block here. Does anyone know what is the problem of Coelogyne Lawrenceaa flower buds that are not open for long time then turn brown and fall off to the face of the earth? Mine had 7 and now only 4 left (Still not open). Thanks
