Cycnodes Jumbo Diamond 'Mari's Sunshine' HCC/AOS
 

This one is headed, AGAIN, to the AOS judging next Saturday ! Last year my X-car died on the way to the judging ! Maybe I'll make it this year !!!

I researched the name and found out that Jumbo Orchids made a mistake and ALL the crosses they had listed as with chlorochilon were ACTUALLY done with warscewiczii and the one I have was named Cycnodes Jumbo Diamond (Cycnoches warscewiczii X Cycnodes Jumbo Micky, 2006).

It just got awarded today (1/7) !!! Got an HCC of 78 points and I gave it the cultural name of 'Mari's Sunshine' after my sister !!!

Thanks, Rosie & Steve ! An AOS judge told me that Steve, back when I first showed it at a member's meeting ! I've been unsuccessfully trying to bring it in to the judging ever since !!

I just won the HCC of 78 points today and I gave it the cultivar name 'Mari's Sunshine' after my sister ! Cycnodes Jumbo Diamond 'Mari's Sunshine' HCC/AOS !!!!!!! It's the GREAT color that did it ! They don't judge on fragrance or it would have got the FCC !!! It has a die-happy-while-traveling-in-the-car fragrance !!!!

if you dont mind me asking, what is the fee if the plant gets awarded?

i wish there was a judging center closer to me! although 2 hours isnt bad, but if you add DC traffic its just a headache.

Bob, there is one in Philadelphia but that's probably no closer. It's $35 for AOS members and $50, I think, if not a member.

I think it's worth it ! You get a frameable certificate and your entry in the AOS history book as well as every clone or division from your plant (with a flower award, HCC, AM, or FCC) will ALWAYS carry the cultivar name you give it !!!

yes definitely worth it!! now to grow ( or steal from Chryss :evil: ) a plant worth of an award :D
