The Lovely C. luteola
4 Attachment(s)
This Catt has taken all manner of abuse, and just keeps going! Its a great little mini, but it has a weird smell. (kinda stinky plastic? Not strong though) Smell aside, I adore it, and after looking at these pics from last blooming, I vow to give it a little extra attention starting now!

Love the orchid sitting on the sofa....very nice blooms! Good growing!
|
Nice! What is your secret for blooming it. I have had mine less than a year and wonder what the trick is. Do you need to neglect it?
|
Mine gets tons of light (south-facing), gets crispy dry very quick between watering, and flowers as soon as a pseudobulb is done growing. Other than that, nothing special, its in my living room window! Its the only Catt that hasnt sunburned there, either.
|
Very nice plant, and I really like the subtle colouring in the lip!
|
Great little luteola but I have a silly question, you say you are growing it indoors, where are all the oxalis weeds coming from?
|
I think the secret is to let it sit and sleep on a comfortable sofa :D
What a cutie! |
Thanks everyone! The rotten oxalis hitched a ride from the greenhouse I bought it, and after repotting it and checking every nook and cranny, I am finally rid of it! The pic is from the second flowering after I bought it and hadnt repotted it yet.
|
This one has been on my wish list for awhile and after seeing your beautiful blooms-it has now made the top of the list.

Thats great to hear!! Its a wonderful indoor plant, because its so tiny, and isnt fussy about humidity (well, mine isnt anyways! lol)

I know what you mean, it spreads like wild fire! I made the mistake of touching a loaded seed pod, and got one right in the eye! Those things can go a long way!

What a little gem. I now know what I have to look forward to when my newly acquired mount grows up. Thanks
Tony |
Oooo! Nice mount!! Your little guy looks very close to blooming size. Mine wasnt much bigger with its first flowering. (approx. 3 inches, including leaf). How much light does yours get?
|
Well, I've only owned it a few weeks and I have it outside in what I'd call bright shade right now as it acclaimates. Of course 'bright shade' is a relative term, this being Florida. I'm guessing 1200 to possibly 1800 f.c. of light thourghout the day. Thanks for the info and I'll post pics if/when she does decide to show off!
Cheers, Tony |

I love these types of Catts. I'm not a fan of the big floofy corsage types, but these little ones are just fantastic!
|
Love those colour combo's! Beautiful.

I've got to admit I really like the big 'uns too! Cheers, Tony you learn more from failure than success Possibly, but it ain't as much fun! |
the oxalis probably came from the first orchid plant that I purchased in 1977. Now, it's covering much of my lawn! :(
Now, I don't bother to eradicate it from my orchids; I control it. It helps to provide some even moisture to the media! --Stitz-- |
love it!
