Earthquake
Felt it here in NYC, pretty strong. At first I thought the building where I work in was the only thing shaking, ran for the hills
How is everyone else? Cell phones are useless!!! |
I hope everyone's ok
|
From what I've been hearing from my friends in northern VA it was strong, but not enough to cause damage. Just stuff falling off the shelves/walls and water sloshing around in the swimming pools. I guess the only real danger was getting hit on the head by a falling object. Still, hope everyone is OK.

My wife just told me about it. Hope eveyone is safe. We're getting some pretty high winds with thunder showers right now, but so far the ground is staying put, happily.

Hope everyone is safe!
News I've seen was some damage in the worst areas, but mostly stuff thrown around. One friend said he hadn't felt it at work but stuff at home was fallen over and off shelves. |
To me, earthquakes are the scariest of mother natures children because they are so unpredictable. Who would have thought there would be one in Virginia?
|
Right now in parts of Ontario, we are under a tornado watch. The sky turned pitch black just before 8pm and then the rain fell hard. The thunder and lightning has not let up yet.
What's with mother nature lately? Pretty scary! |
Hope you're doing okay, Sii :)
It looks like that storm has or is going to trigger everywhere in Ontario or atlease that's what the last reports were showing. Also baseball size of hail-WTF ?? :yikes: Sure its scary! For me its the lightening that freaks me out :dumb: Dunno about you guys but I don't do to well with these tropical type storms Bring on the 4 feet of snow -- Now that to me is normal  It should be heading our way late overnite into the day tomorrow. We'll likey just see lots rain rain with strong winds. Keep safe til those storms pass out of you're area :D |
Global warming.
Probably the increasing heat has also caused the earth to shift, like metal expands or contracts with changing temp. |
Having spent all of my life on the west coast I've become pretty blase about earthquakes. I don't bother getting off the couch unless it's at least a 6.0. ;) Tornados OTOH scare the bejeebers out of me. Must have watched the Wizard of Oz too many times as a child.
From what I have read and heard no one was injured. I was sorry to hear that some of the monuments in DC were damaged. |
