Sedirea subparishii
I've had this plant for several years and it languished until I gave it a cold, dry winter rest. This is its first bloom for me.

Very nice. I really like the color, but I'm a sucker for green! Looks like giving it a chill paid off.
|
Wow! I might like that one better than Sedirea japonica! I'm a sucker for green too. Thanks for sharing!
|
I'm with Evan, I think I might like it better than Sedirea japonica! What a cutie!
|
Ditto to what Evan and Becca said. I like it more than Seridea japonica. I keep killing japonica anyways. Will have to look for it.
|
I've been looking for one of those for a couple years now. nobody seems to have one.
|
Bummer !!! It really is a beauty.

Lovely !

Very nice! It seems to be a rare one and I cannot find it in our local nurseries.
|
unfortunately, Dowery has not been able to import any plants for a while, and it's difficult for any importer to find legal sources for Sedirea subparishii

You all might check with Louisiana Orchid Connection, they're importing a lot of hard-to-find Taiwanese and Chinese species and if they don't have it they may be able to get it for you. Ooi Leng Sun in Malaysia might be a good place to check, too, I think they come to shows in the US a few times per year. Great plant, Jay, thanks for showing us this one! TIL there is another beautiful Sedirea species. :D --Nat |
oh my! add me to the "love it!" group!

Hi Kip
Of course I will let you know. I want to see this species more widely cultivated. Luckily 3 plants lived. It just passed Australian Customs at 3 months and are ok. Thats some feat. Sadly 4 Nothodoritis zhejiangense died.. One lived... I could have cried all day as they cost $80 a plant. I will send seed to Troy Meyers too.. But lets not count chickens. I have asked my friend China for seed of both species. By the way.. PM me.. How goes James? Brett |
Not sure you if you still frequent this site but I thought I'd try. I have had my Sedirea subparishii for several years and it has yet to flower. I wondered if you tell me about you "winter rest" that you give yours?
Anything would help. |
