Orchid people

:) Are the most wonderful crowd! I posted a help notice about my minute seedling ( which turned out to be 3 even minuter seedlings) on my 4 orchid forums. I had answers from them all, and a grower who lives 20 miles from me sent me a message to say he had bought from the same source and lost his, but he had some fine bark and to contact him. so I did , and went to collect it today, and he showed me round his 2 greenhouses, and I came away with 3 keikis and a plant! I was over the moon! It just goes to show what lovely people we are! Judi:blushing:

I've noticed the same thing Judi :)

The majority of folks I've met and/or spoken to in the orchid world have been wonderful and quite a few have become treasured friends :D

Orchidboard has been a big part of that happening :cheer:

I agree! I'm still new here but I have definately appreciated everyones kindness. It really seems like there is a great group of people on here that are nice enough to share their knowledge. Orchid people are the best!

You want to know why? Because Orchid People have learned to give away the excess and that leaves room for new acquisitions

Sarah, I have a Milt. Bert Fields 'Eileen', AM/AOS that's yours for free if you drive over to pick it up. It's headed for compost heap otherwise. It's a biggy (8" pot) and just started to send out new growths. I have no room.

Ross, I would love it! How nice to offer! I have really been wanting to try one of those too. I will talk to the other half about when would be a good time to go over there and I will let you know. Like I said before, I do go over there to go shopping quite often so I'm sure I can work something out. Thank you! :D

Hi

It seems to me that the majority of the people that loves orchids tend to have a certain attitude towards live.

Perhaps because sometimes we have to wait years to see the fruits of our labor?!

Or maybe the ones that endure tend to be similar in attitude?!

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that orchid culture is so different. When we all start out, it is wonderful to have that mentor (if you're really lucky), or a place to go (like this forum) for answers. We all remember what it was like in the beginning and how much a helping hand meant. What's the saying, 'Pay it forward'?

Anyway, I have a give away peloric phal if anyone is interested....:badh:

Dorothy 06-25-2007 01:43 PM

Which peloric? I have a Blc Lawless Zauberflote 'Rainbow' that needs a new home.

cb977 06-25-2007 01:45 PM

We, as orchid addicts, have to stick together...nobody else understands!

Lin...peloric phal, you say? :hmm
If it's still available, I'll make room on the phal shelf ;)

Suzanne, it's yours.

A peloric is a deformed flower. This has bloomed three times for me and I don't think it's going to change. :scratchhead:

That is SO funky looking! I love it!!!
