Phalaenopsis Mini Mark
A common one I know, but my first one of these for some reason has had problems since repotting it... so yesterday while at the RHS London Orchid Show I just had to get a replacement.

Cool display :) I love the ways these get over enthusiastic about spikes and flowers! Hope this one goes better for you
I've just counted that there are 36 buds on this (as well as the 6 flowers already open)
They really are enthusiastic bloomers aren't they! |
That's a nice one Rosie.

oh pretty!!! once i know i can keep phals alive - that one is definitely on my wish list :)

Classic. It's really going to put on a show. You have to update this thread when they all open up.
It looks like there's a hint of yellow on the two lower petals, is that right? Really lovely. -J |
stunning! I can see why it's so popular. It's beautiful and floriferous.

Nice one Rosie! I know its common, but this cross has flowers that are really dazzling or soothing to the eye. In any case I miss seeing mine. Congrats.
Rosie, I've never seen such large Mini Mark plants with so many flowers/buds. It looks amazing! Not common at all here in the US. Enjoy your lovely plant.
Sweet & charming! Love this lil one Rosie :D
Thanks everyone :)
I love this one! very cute!
Oh how gorgeous! That's what my poor beat up one looked like when I got it. I really really need to replace it. I should have asked you to pick one up for me.

I have been looking all over for a mini mark--can't find one anywhere. Do any of you know where they can be ordered? And on an unrelated side-note can someone share the distinctions between the varieties, I've seen mention of 'Holm', 'Maria Theresa', and 'Levengood'.
I'm not sure where you get them in the USA, though I know it's a popular one over there as well.
The names 'Holm', 'Maria Theresa' and 'Levengood' are cultivar names. These are specific plants which have shown good characteristics and have then been cloned for people to buy. The cultivar name can only be used for the original plant with that name and for any clones of it (or keikis). If you did a seed cross of a 'holm' with another 'holm' the seedlings would NOT be 'holm' as seedlings are not identical to their parents. 'Holm' is a very popular one, I've not actually come accross the others. Mine is very close to the look of 'Holm' but as it was not labled as that I can't know that it is a clone of this cultivar so can't use that name. |
Thanks for the clarification Rosie, sometimes these nomenclature issues get so confusing!
Beautiful plant, Rosie! And good find! Hope your other mini mark gets back to growing for you soon.
