WHOOT going to my first ever orchid show
 

OK so it not totaly off topic .....but lol what can I say.

Ok The greater St. Louis orchid society is having its show this weekend ....and bonus its at the Missouri Botanical gardens where as it just happens they are opening the winter orchid display on the same day ....

I managed to cath the very last few orchids at the botanical gardens quite by accident one spring about the end of march and have never made it back during the orchid display period so I am excited for sure ....lol going to the bank tommorrow to get enough money to buy that realy cool orchid that I just wont be able to resist ....hmmm may need more but Im taking a friend to slap me back into reality just in case.

I'm green with envy, I can't go this year. Buy something SUPER special and post plenty of pictures!

I will be going to my first orchid show on Feb. 5. I too am trying to save up as much as possible. Enjoy!!!!

You'll see, shows are awesome! I always limit the amount of cash I bring, or else I'll just spend, spend, spend until it's all gone! :blushing: Have fun there, and be sure to take LOTS of pics for us! :biggrin:

I hope to be going to another show in March (the RHS show in London), but I'm not too sure yet since it would involve airfare and a hotel.

I love going to shows, you will love it John.

I'm hoping to go the the RHS one in London as well, not been to that one before. It's a long way from where I live, but I like to visit London ocasionally anyway, hey maybe combine it with a visit to my sis who is just about to have her first baby, any excuse to see my nephew!

John, I went last year to that one and took a friend. My friend was more encouraging my orchid addiction that slapping me in the face, lol... I think I walked away with 6 new orchids while the show was there! I'm planning on going myself, so maybe I'll see you there! Happy times and shopping!

I am leaving in the Am. for the show daughter is riding along she is no help at all regarding spending :).. See you all there !

Warning do not go to a show where Gin and her Daughter are going to be .....orchids seem to jump into your hand from nowhere as they say oh man you need this....and this ....lol and this ....

Sorry I had to run without saying bye Gin ...Michels hip is realy realy bad and she forgot her cane and it was killing her and she was in pain and wanted to get to a drug store and pick up some meds...the girl is needing a hip replacement bad and I was amazed she hung in there as long as she did ...

lol and every time any of us turned around the other one seemed to dissappear ...some how all three of us appeared at the truck at the same time and with Michell needing pain meds it was time to run....

Yes it was hard to get all in the same spot at the same time .Not fun to be in pain ..
But don't believe what john said about daughter and I enabling :evil: we were just pointing out how cool a plant was that's all :evil: :rofl: would Never do that :rofl: Had a great time :biggrin:

aww man ...LOL thats ok we would have liked to meet you though.I have realy enjoyed the Ob online ...but found a realy good friend in the one person that I do live close enough that although its not often I do get to visit with once a year at least....

ahh and I did take a few and have not had time to even look at them since I got home....not promising much but I did try to get name tags in the picture.....lol a lot I took a pic of the tag and then the chid and I just hope I can put them with each other right

Yeah, sorry I missed you guys as well! I do plan on going over and over again though (as usual, lol...).

I can't wait to see the photos you guys took. Mine were more scenery the first time around just because I am enchanted by the Mayan culture and their representation of it. I thought they did a wonderful job putting the displays together.

I also came home with three new babies! Two more dendrobiums and one phaiucalenthes (sp?)! I had to support the orchid growers that came all that way for the sale, lol...! Plus, it was good to put faces with those venders - I've seen them online, but you always wonder whose on the other end.

oh and we are in for the major ice storm here tonight ...hoping that the last one and all the repair work they did means we wont lose the electricity this time...But lol I do have the inverter and two bottles of propane ....

I love photos you two. I remember the first show I literally stumbled upon. I was like a little kid in a candy shop.

Attachment 52914lol Im waiting on some of my haul to bloom and you will get to see .....Kryptonite 'ursula' has two spikes with buds close to opening and chariots of fire has four spikes but a couple weeks away at least ....
Unfortunaty Lou Sneery Blue bird with a nice spike almost in bloom and two smaller spikes peeking out did not like the move to the show and to the truck and then into the house....blasted ...was expected though.
