They're all gorgeous...but that second one is amazing!
Do you know the name of that one? I've never seen one like it!

gerneveyn 06-09-2007 05:55 PM

Nice pictures. Are those lilacs in the first and third pics?

Gin 06-09-2007 05:58 PM

Just the last picture the first is a plant that grows wild here the second succulent blooms .
I'm sorry Sue I don't know the names of the B flys . Thanks for looking .. Gin

Gin those are wonderful!! How patient you must have been to wait for them to pose for a portrait. The blue is my favorite - breathtaking

Gin 06-10-2007 02:48 PM

Glad you liked them . I had very few around this year probably because of the late freeze not many flowers . The lilacs were just starting to bloom they took a hard hit . Gin

Very pretty. Butterflies are quite hard to get to sit still enough to take portraits like this. Nice job.

Ross 06-10-2007 05:05 PM

By the way, I believe the second photo is of the Red-spotted Purple, Basilarchia astyanax. Only eastern populations have the red in the FW tips above. This butterfly mimics the toxic, bright blue Pipevine Swallowtail, thus gaining protection from birds.

Thanks for the info. Ross :) Gin
