I happened to visit their site to see if they still had a Cattleya as a replacement for one of mine that died because of my negligence. They are currently having a Holiday sale on Catts: 12, 4" non-budded plants, their choice, delivered for $62.00. that's just $5.16/plant. So if you and some of your orchid friends want to get together and be surprised, I think you'd be very pleased.

I've bought from Carmela's Orchids a couple of times. The plants were great and the service was excellent.

You know this is one of the GREAT things about this forum.... The freedom to express our constitutional 1st Amendment rights without someone getting bent out of shape over it. I love having the ability to share something that others may find helpful in the pursuit of their hobby without being censored. Glad my note has been helpful.

I've never had a bad experience with Carmela Orchids. They have a great eye for plants, and they grow the heck out of them. Then they sell them at excellent prices...

I ordered the Carmela's "Christmas Deal" and got the plants today. Since I'm re-building my orchid collection after moving to Florida, I was happy with the idea of getting 12 Cattleya hybrids for $62 in my hands.

These plants are large, I mean BS or NBS, 5-8 large p'bulbs and 8-10" leaves.

I added 4 vanda's which got to ride along with free shipping.

This was my first purchase from Carmel's, but I'll certainly order from them again.

I'm not sure, they got delivered to my sister in So. Cal. There is a pretty good mix!!! Very healthy plants, some in bud, some with new sheaths! Very happy!

She was thrilled, she unwrapped all and took photos and posted to facebook, it was such fun!

And help, I'll adopt you! ;) I'm not sure how long the special lasts, wish I knew, cause I'd like to purchase after the holidays when I have cash from gifts to me ;)

i wanted to order after christmas as well, just to hectic now. thats why i was wondering

I just emailed Carmelas and they said the special lasts until December 31st.
So now I have to find out who I was talking to about the group order instead of waiting till the next meeting. Thing is, I can't remember her name :/ lol.

You can ALWAYS find room for another orchid, or two....or three......or even more!! These epiphytic plants are simply taking over my house - and I love it!!!
May need to buy another house - this time, somewhere WARM.
I'm thinking Puerto Rico or somewhere like that. Then I can buy MORE orchids as they can live outdoors there!!! Genius!!!!

Oh no! Don't tell me this! I already bought my xmas orchids--8 of them--from another nursery. But this holiday special is so tempting! Should I get 12 more? That'll make 20 orchids this Christmas, and my family is not going to be happy, because my orchids are taking over my house, my wallet, and my life. :(

I ordered but I'm having them ship later. I think it's better not to get a 2nd orchid haul too soon after the 1st one. I will decide what to do with the 12 later. :rofl:

Uh oh! I'm kinda worried now. But they shipped them Monday and they should be here Wednesday. So we will see what happens

I think they will be fine, they do wrap them very well with newspaper, etc. That will provide some insulation!

I think they send Fed X I have ordered in the winter and not have a problem .
Got a gift Cert. for Christmas from Hausermann Orchids they ship UPS. and always go across the street I am gong to wait to use it . Very painful

I'm not too worried. My earlier orchid haul arrived (from another place) when it was much colder here (temps in the 20s during the day). When the package arrived, the heat packs were barely warm but the orchids were nice and safe.

Just be sure to take the package inside quickly. My fedex driver didn't ring the doorbell, but luckily I saw the truck outside the window so I rushed downstairs.
