Request for prayer for my Grandparents
I feel rather strange asking this, but I would like to ask you guys to pay for my Grandparents (called Peter & Mille)
My Grandma has suffered from Alzheimer's for a few years and become completely reliant on my Grandad. In the last few days she has suffered a mild stroke and on top of that Grandad has had food poisoning and can't care for her any more. It is thought that Grandma is likely to suffer further strokes in the next few days, because once they start is someone her age this is what often happens. It's a bank holiday (public holiday) tomorrow and because of that she can't go to the local hospital. My Grandad does not want her to go to the one in the nearest big town and so she is still at home and my aunt (who is a trained nurse) is helping until she can go to the local one on Tuesday. It's not known if she will ever be able to come home again as it is unlikely that my Grandad will be able to care for her now even when he has recovered from the food poisoning. I would like to ask for prayers for Grandma to be comfortable and content (since she got Alzheimer's she has a tendency to get very worried when Grandad is not with her). Also for Grandad who has to cope with letting her go to the hospital when she may not come back. Also for all our family, especially my Dad and his sister. I hope no-one minds me posting this. I just really want to ask for your prayers. |
Rosie, you and all your family are in my thoughts and prayers...love and hugs :blowkisses:
|
Your family and you have mine . Hugs
|
Rosie,
According to my religion we worship Triple Gem to get blessings . May the Triple Gem bless your grand parents and protect them . I wish them a long life. |
My prayers are with you and your family Rosie.
It just isn't fair to get old and be sick. I pray for your Grand Dad the most as it is going to be hardest on him. Al |
Thanks everyone.
Al, you are right on it being really tough on Grandad. My prayers are especially that God will keep him strong through this time. |
Just about to log out the PC and got a message from my Mum.

Rosie, you and your grandparents have my prayers too. Many here at OB offered prayers when my daughter needed them a year and a half ago. Prayer is a very powerful help at our time of need and I'm glad you asked.
|
i will keep your grandparents in my thoughts and hope that everything works out :)
|
Hang on,Rosie. Of course, we'll pray for all of you! My Dad has Alzheimers, and prayers are a great help for the whole family. Let us know how things progress, but try to trust in His/Her care...Peace...
|
Grandparents are the best. My thoughts and prayers to you and family.
|
No need to feel strange or odd about asking for prayers, sweetie, this is still within our rights and freedom. I'm a Christain and have no shame about it.
I do pray that things work out for your grandparents and they find comfort and peace. I also pray that you find hope and peace and your family, too. Please do let us know how they are doing. |
hope all gets better and will do ...I take care of my mother with alz and it can be hard at times but there are good times mixed in too pick those out and hold them and keep the best its hard to belive but sometimes even this can have good moments
|
Rosie, I pray the God will give all of you peace. May they be able to stay at home where it is comfortable and they feel safe. May you all be kept in his arms. Becky Jo
|
Rosie,
You can count on my prayers! I really wish your grandparents can be as comfortable as possible! I also send to you and to your family the best energy, so that you all can be well these days! |
Thankyou everone. I really apreciate it!
|
I will say a prayer for them. Hoping all the best for you and your family.

Thanks again everyone. The news is mixed.
My Dad says both of them are brighter today but not good. Neither has had to go to hospital today but my Grandad may have had Salmonella which is nasty at the best of times and in someone his age can be even worse and he's still not well. My Grandma may not have had a stroke after all, but rather a Urinary infection which apparently can mimic a stroke sometimes. She also has severe constipation high up in the bowl. I would feel encouraged by this 'not a stroke' news if it was not for the fact that the elderly Mum of a colleague died last week following exactly the conditions they now say my Grandma has. My Aunt (who is a trained nurse and recently works mostly with the elderly) is not having to stay with them overnight now but is with them every day. She has called Doctors in a couple of times yesterday (despite the public holiday) and was able to get them the drugs she and the Doctors agreed on for my Grandma. One nice thing was that one of the 'On-Call' doctors yesterday was a Christian and also prayed with them. Apparently they have also had their 'care package' from the local hospital increased, which means more carers for more hours every day. The hospital would like to avoid them being admitted if possible. Not sure if I'm more worried, or less with this latest news :dunno: :_( |
Thanks for the update, Rosie. It's hard to know just how to feel, isn't it? But time will tell. In the mean time, my prayers continue to be with you and yours. Hang in there!
|
Still sending prayers and love your way :blowkisses:
|
Rosie, I pray that your grandmother gets to stay at home the longest possible time (my gran also had alzheimers & passsed away at my parents home 2 years ago at the grand age of 97 with nothing wrong with her apart from her mind..)
I will especially pray for your grandad as he will be the one to find it the most difficult. Great news about the increased 'care package' God bless you all |
You have my family and I's prayer. May the Lord be with you all! Please keep posted.
|
Rosie,
Sorry to hear the mixed news today. You and your family will certainly be in my prayers. I hope that everyone is comfortable and secure and that they get to stay at home as long as possible. All the best, - J |
I'm glad you asked for prayers. They have tremendous power I believe. You can't change natures course but you can smooth out some of the bumps. Bless them.
|
***Hugs*** I wish you all the very best - health & happiness. Stay strong, Keep the faith!
Thinking of you ....... :) |
Thanks again everyone.
My Mum has said that both of them are doing well the last day or so. My Grandad is still recovering from the food poisening but is better ever day and seems to be getting over it. Grandad has told Mum that Grandma seems as mentally well as she was a couple of weeks ago which is good. With the Alzheimer's that still means she can be quite confused but it means the stroke (which the doctors still think she has had) has not significantly affected her. She is still fighting the infection but has shown a noticable good responce to the drugs for that and it's no longer adding to the confusion. Thanks again for all your well wishes and prayers :) |
Truly sorry to hear about the troubles, but it is nice to hear that both are doing better now.
You have both our best wishes and positive thoughts as well! If it's any consolation my Nana had a series of Strokes spanning a decade and well never really suffered from them in comparison to what can happen. So I'm hope that you Grandma is at least as resilient as my Nana was, if not more so :) Big Hugs and as they say Chin Up! |
