cb977 05-31-2010 07:19 PM

:wow Maria, this is just outstanding!!! :cloud9:

I can just imagine the smile on your face :)

peeweelovesbooks 05-31-2010 08:14 PM

I love it!!! The guy @ Pine Ridge had these on his "special" table and I thought this was the best one.

They had one that was magenta as opposed to indigo, but I loved this tone more. :)

He told me it was show quality (although How do I know) and to come back and tell him when I won an award. LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Sue, how'd you know about the smile? I haven't stopped smiling and leaning over for a whiff of the perfume ever since I got it.

Thanks guys!!!

:)

Swamper 06-01-2010 02:44 AM

Maria loves it? I bet she does. :) That is really beautiful. And after reading how Maria is willing to pay top dollar I would think she paid a lot. But maybe she got a really great deal? LOL Congratulations it's a real beauty.

cb977 06-01-2010 07:14 AM

Of course, I just HAD to check out the web site...thanks a lot, Maria! :faint:

Now I spend my days contemplating a $75 Phal...maybe I should be in the Orchid Cost thread instead of here

Swamper,

Thanks. I need to stop looking at the thing. I will give it the evil eye if I don't.

You are too funny!!!

Ok, here's my bargaining technique: "OMG that's so gorgeous, how much is it?"

Insert response..........

"Ok, who do I write out the check to?"

While my sister looks on incredulously.........

Obviously, my bargaining technique needs a little work.:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

(WINK)

Well, if you are really thinking about it you should call because he doesn't have many left. He had I think 2 or 3 indigos and 1 or 2 really nice magentas.

:)

P.S. (whispering....they weren't 75.00.......) shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Well, since I was a family law attorney in my former life, I have a list of really REALLY good ones. (wink)

Let me know what you get.. (smirk)

quiltergal 06-01-2010 03:53 PM

You can order a seedling from H. P. Norton for $35. ;) I bought one last year and it's been a very vigorous grower. I wouldn't be surprised if it blooms next year. http://www.orchidview.com/Blue_violacea.pdf

Swamper 06-01-2010 09:53 PM

Maria, what's the place like? Is it worth going just to photograph? (Maybe buy)
My negotiation is more like.." OMG That's gorgeous, how much is that?"
Insert response..........
" No really"
Repeats response......
" Pesos?"
Walks away.....
I take pictures :)

Well, right now there's a sea of orchids in bloom. I mean that literally. There are so many that after a while I got a little claustrophobic. It's just a HUGE greenhouse. I've never really seen anything like it.

Definitely nothing as artsy fartsy as RF, but then again, nothing around Homestead compares.

I will tell you that his potting medium sucks. It's more like dirt. I hate it and I repotted the plant immediately.

His plants are gorgeous though.

I would go just for the pics though. And, MAYBE you should buy some too. Giggle.

Swamper 06-03-2010 09:06 PM

Hmmmm A sea of orchids in bloom. That sounds so right. I like it. I'll have to check it out. Thanks

Robe 06-06-2010 09:24 AM

It's obvious you're in love: it's stunning!!!
Fantastic colour and excellent shape! :D
Congrats! :)

Oh Mariiiiiiaaaaaa...

guess what??/ (/udb)

I started teasing him about getting a $75 chid...any $75 chid ;) ...thinking he'd give me "the look"

The man likes to keep me guessing because he decided that IF I were to start buying "better" plants he would be happy as long as I didn't buy quite so many :coverlaugh:

He has no clue as to what he's started here but...

I picked up some cool "better" plants on Thursday and my good and evil and the best friend laura stopped at June's Orchid Estate and found some gorgeous blue bellinas! Of course, just telling me about them wasn't good enough for Laura and Laurie...oh no, they had to email me a :photo:

:faint:

Long involved story cut short...I'll be getting my new blue Phal bellina on Tuesday when I meet laura for the TOC meeting :chicken

and I will think of you every time I see it

Beautiful! I really like Terry and Barbara Glancy (Pine Ridge Orchids). They are outstanding growers and just about the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. I always thought their pricing was very reasonable, too.

I'd love to see a picture when you get it!!!

Mine just opened its second bloom!! The indigo is even DARKER than the first one. I'm obssessed, really. :)

Yeah, they are very nice. I don't think their prices were outrageous either. I would have bought 2: the blue and the magenta, but I had spent my orchid budget. :) MEH. :(
