Saturday Greenhouse Visit
Well, I know it isn't Monday but I trust you'll enjoy some color on an otherwise gloomy day.... there is one bright spot besides the flowers. Tomorrow I'll be at the Greater Lansing Orchid Show.... and maybe, just maybe, I'll take my camera along for the visit. I'm sure there will be others posting pics of the show.
Anyway, back to the pictures .... http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...68/DSC_129.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...68/DSC_130.jpg Both of these are one year old keiki http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...68/DSC_132.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...68/DSC_133.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...68/DSC_134.jpg |

Thanks Sheridan... it helps me get through the day also
|
I envy you Doc being able to keep them in the greenhouse all year. I wish I could do that....
Sheridan |
Where do you grow your chids, Sheriden? Lights, windowsill????
|
what a beautiful cymb....and i love the phals too, very nice!!! good growing!
|
Doc, during the winter I bring my orchids into the dining room and have them on metal shelving with grow lights. During the spring and summer into early fall I have them in my fiberglass greenhouse. I wish I had been able to purchase a Sunglo double walled greenhouse.

Ranchnanny, Are you going to the Portland show on the 6th? If so I would love to meet you. Betty, Tri Cities, Wa.
|
Doc, The top of the gh got to 101 yesterday. i checked the light levels and top bench was over 6000 fc. so put the shade cloth on right then and there to prevent sunburn. The exhaust fan is running and keeping most of the house at no more than 86. Betty Your pictures are fantastic. What kind of program do you use to put the names on the pics? I write the newsletter for our society and would love to spruce it up a bit with fancier pictures. Good Luck at the show..

The spotted Phals with yellow/red combinations are my weakness. Yours is outstanding, Doc.

That temperature is unreal!!!! Hard to believe in the dead of winter your temps get up that high!!!! Thanks Sandy... I may be able to grow another keiki from the plants I currently have but it wouldn't be ready til next spring....can you wait? |
Yes Doc, you have it right. Mojo is Betty; Ranchnanny is Sheridan. Althought Sheridan and I have never met, we live about 200 miles apart.
I have the gh just like yours but don't have the expertise you seem to have with getting phals to bloom. But I am learning and hopefully next year I will have better luck. Yes, it gets warm here in the spring gh. The outside temp was 55 yesterday and the inside gh temp at the top was 101. Sunny again today with temps expected about 58. Betty/Mojo |
Oh, I forgot...I'm the one asking about the pictures and program you use. Betty/Mojo
|
Ok.... I was beginning to wonder if the guys in the white coats where going to be coming soon..... I use Adobe Photoshop CS. It's an older version of the program that I got from somewhere????? but if you post a query on the board about what others use to resize their pictures, I'm sure you'll find lots of suggestions. If I can figure out how to burn a usable copy, I could send it to you.... let me know at this email: lasserh@hotmail.com

Mojomick I won't be going to the orchid show in Portland :( and it seems every year there is always a conflict. I am attending a very dear friends mothers 90th birthday party. I have wanted to attend the orchid show every year so next year its going on the calendar and nothing is going to stop me from attending. I would love to meet you as well maybe next year.
