Phrag China Dragon

A friend of mine gave me this division last summer. I could not find a pot long and big enough to use. So I got an $0.88 clearance pitcher from Target and drilled some holes on the bottom and a few on the sides. This is the first time it's bloomed for me.

Thanks for looking!

If the day temps are in mid 70's to low 80's I water about every 2 days right now during the winter. Each time I water, I use RO to flush the CHC/perlite/charcoal mix. My humidity is around 50%.

I think mine probably gets the higher end of medium light. When I first got it, the leaves were more of a bright green. I had it a foot or two away from windows facing southeast. Now the leaves are more of a lighter green. During the winter it went under my T5's, measuring around 900 fc for 12 hours.

:hello Tracy. Thanks for answering my question.I grow mine in the greenhouse and leaves are light green but I have to see how much light it gets.Maybe it needs more light.Next to it I grow some phrags like Jason Fischer,Noirmont,Grande,Besseae and Eric Young they bloom good so maybe I need to wait a little longer.Wishing you Tracy more success with your orchids.:goodluck::)

Thank you! Yes, perhaps it just needs some more time. When it does bloom, you'll have to let me know if the flowers smell faintly like dirty, wet socks. Mine do. I've no idea why.

VERY nice Phrag! One nice advantage to your use of a pitcher -- that handle could come in handy when you need to pick it up!
