My Lepanthes telipogoniflora
Hi
This is my Lepanthes telipogoniflora . It just flowered for the first time today. I got a friend to hold it and you can compare it to his thumb  I know what is prettier. It has 3 spikes now and looks like more to come. The plant has grown amazingly in 90% humidity, in live moss and at 22 celcius. By the way, this is 8 months on from 2 leaves.. I got it from Orquideas del valle. Yet, a second plant from the same order is still 2 leaves and not looking happy

I really like this little guy, though I've never grown it. Good pics!

I bought one from Andrea last October too. Unfortunately mine did not wake up from all the activity. Im not giving up though, Il definitely be getting some at the San Francisco show next month.
PS - By living moss, do you mean like a tree moss started growing on top of sphagnum? |

No, this is like a native moss here in Thailand that is similar to spagnum, but finer. I will take some photos for you. It seems to be heat sensitive too and dies if the temp is too high, so it loves the Lepanthes conditions. I will post pcis of it. I would really love to get some more plants of this species. My problem is that most nurseries wont send a small order to places like Thailand. My plants were sent to the USA and a friend brought them over. Thailand is very lazy about enforcing import laws. I am going to try to pollinate this plant, but I it will be a challenge, even with a 30x microscope I think. |
Very nice! I've never grown this species, but I fell in love with it when another OB member posted his, which was growing in a small glass globe with some live moss around the roots. Since it needs such high humidity, I want to grow it in a similar container.
Yours is beautiful. I'm jealous! |
Well done, Brett !

Wow, amazing flower. Thanks for sharing.....love the Lepanthes.

I am hoping to bring this species with me when I return to Australia. I doubt a mature plant would survive AQIS, so I really hope to flask it.
I have a friend in France who flasks Lepanthes and he has a friend in Belgium who can make seed on them too. He will send me some protocorms when he germinates them. Brett |
Lovely! I need to get one when the winter ends in Sweden...

My L. teliopogoniflora has just put out its 4th spike. I wish they would all bloom at the same time, but it looks like they will be scattered a little over a few weeks. This plant must like me as it is growing like a weed. I only fertilise it once a month with very weak fish emulsion and grow it in live moss. The moss I use is like a really fine spagnum.

Ah yes, the satellite orchid. I love it! Nice job growing it.

Cutie!

I think it is easy enough if you give it temps under 82F (28c) and high humidity, ooh.. seems to really do much better in live moss.
I will post more pics as it continues blooming. A friend of mine has a friend in Belgium that has crossed it to L. Calodictyon. I found out in an email tonight. Darn.. he beat me too it. I want one. Brett |
How very sweet and happy!! I love it!
How hard are these to grow? Probably not something for a beginner with a bare bones set up. Thank you for sharing ETA: I see you kind of answered my question in the post above. :X |
I know this is a kinda old thread, but I just want to say how much I like this little guy. A really cool little flower.
